I am sure there have been plenty of threads about this in the past but has anyone watched this show? I am totally burning through all the episodes on youtube and now even going to watch Oz and James wine adventure. Something about these two personalities and their differences in drink is very enjoyable to watch, especially learning about European drinking culture and how it is very different to that of Americas. Anyway, if you haven't checked this show out you can find all the episodes on youtube and i highly recommend them! They even drink bottles of beer that are over a hundred years old! so awesome.
I found these by searching for beer shows on satellite and recording on the DVR. Very enjoyable and informative! I like the dry humor they have
Also check out Oz & James's Big Wine Adventure where the travel from LA to North California taking in the wineries of the areas. Also, Oz took on a new partner, Hugh Dennis and did Oz & Hugh's Drink to Christmas and Oz & Hugh Raise the Bar. All very entertaining.
My favorite parts are when Oz talks about needing to burp to taste hops. Oz, James... stick with wine and top gear.
That actually does work, and you really do get a sharper hop flavour. You obviously don't HAVE to, as you well know.
They are quite the pair and really enjoyed all the series they did together. I have yet to watch any of the ones with Oz and Hugh but I will have to search them out.
I actually use the information on tasting wine, from the first series, to beer and it has definately helped me out. Also I dig the jag and rolls.
I thought the series was awful. A good chance to have a mainstream programme about beer that was totally missed. Instead it's just two idiots, neither of whom knows bugger all about beer making puerile jokes. Oz Clarke's "facts" about Porter was an assemblage of the worst disinformation on the topic.
The show is enjoyable and funny. They're not the biggest beer advocates in the UK I'm sure, but the show holds up very nicely. Maybe one day I'll stop to watch their wine adventure.
Thanks for the tip on the series. I was at the Tan Hill Inn(episode 1) a few years ago. Amazing, remote, old pub. I'll watch the others. Britain's a fantastic place to beer travel!
