Nothing like trying to do research at the last minute, am i rite? So I ask you, follow BA's, who is for changing PA's silly beer laws for the better? Talking about state/local level candidates obviously.
Personally I don't care much about the "buying a case from one place and singles/six packs" at another place part. I'd rather they allow super-markets to sell cases. Get rid of state-owned liquor stores. Lower prices.
Generally speaking, Republicans would be more likely to support privatizing liquor in PA. Case law is a different but not entirely separate issue, as privatization would likely lead to further discussions on who can sell what in what quantities (I doubt Total Wine wants to build a store here if they can only sell beer by the case). I have written my reps (Todd Stephens and Stewart Greenleaf, both repubs) and Tom Corbett, and they all responded saying they were in favor of those measures. And not to judge anyone, but I really don't think this should be a primary or even secondary reason why you vote for your local officials. There are just too many other factors that will limit their ability to make those changes.
You're right. In my district, there are gargantuan issues to think about before heading to the polls. We get front row seats as the Capitol's deficit grows! Hopefully, a discussion like this is taken lightly and for fun.
It doesn't appear that any of the candidates for the offices I can vote for (Attorney General, Auditor General, State Treasurer) have a stance on the PLCB. Related: http://networkedblogs.com/EmU2C There's actually a PA beer law forum at Yard's on Thursday: http://noplcb.blogspot.com/2012/10/next-month-beer-law-forum-at-yards.html
"It doesn't appear that any of the candidates for the offices I can vote for (Attorney General, Auditor General, State Treasurer) have a stance on the PLCB." Not sure on her stance, but Kathleen Kane's husbands shipping company does around $13 mil of business with the PLCB yearly. Might be a bit of a conflict of interest there.
Just like Steeeve I wrote my two Reps (Daylin Leach and Tim Briggs, both Dems) a few years ago asking them to support a beer liberalization bill drafted by Sen. Rafferty at that time. Neither of my representatives replied to my letter. Apparently my reps were too busy to respond to a constituent!?! Cheers!
