Looking for some opinions on a past successful IPA I have brewed. I am substituting everything but the base malts just trying to make that WOW what did I just create from my hop head buddies. So here is my outline, any advice as to if this is just to far fetched or any other hop suggestions is appreciated as I just have built the courage to do a far fetched experiment.

    base malts
    American 2 row
    Munich malt
    Carmel 40L

Mash at 153 deg for 60
    Boil
    60 - 2 oz comet
    30 - 3 cascade hop Shots
    15 - 1 oz sterling
    10 - 1 oz sterling
    1 - 1 oz citra
    Dry hop 2 oz citra

I I have not used sterling or hop shots. I'd consider subing chinook @15 Columbus @10.

Also, how much malt r u using , how much 2 row, Munich, etc.
Gives the forem a better idea, thus, can answer better.

    @GormBrewhouse
10 Lbs American Two-Row Pale Malt
    8oz Munich Malt
    4 oz Carmel 40L.
    Thank You for the recommendation.

Do you have any specific goals other than "WOW?" For example, what do you want the beer to taste like?

Just FYI, Caramel 40L is not a base malt, because it does not have any enzymes for converting starches to sugars/dextrins.

I would add some of the comet later in the boil and not all up front like that. It will add some similar notes that you will get from the citra, so could understand not doing this.

I would recommend cutting back the 60 minute - 2 oz can make it awful bitter.
You might also think about moving the hop shots from 30 to maybe 10 or 5 minutes to go - 30 is a sort of no-mans land between bittering and aroma.
They were right in that C-40 isn't a base malt - but I don't think that's what you really meant - just fermentables. I like that bill - mostly base - that munich will add a touch of extra flavor, and the C-40 a bit of color and sweetness. Though you may want a bit more munich - it's not really an accent grain in that amount.

I'd crank up that dry hop to 4-6 oz

I agree that 8oz Munich will not add that much, up it to a pound if you can. If not, no big deal.

So far as hop schedule, I like 30min hop additions, but you're probably overdoing that.

If you've already bought the ingredients and need to use them, maybe change the hop schedule to something like this:

    60min- 1oz Comet
    30min- 1 Cascade hopshot
    10min- 2 Cascade hopshots
    0min- 1oz Comet, 2oz Sterling
    DH- 3oz Citra

@VikeMan Looking to outdo Hopslam, that’s the closest one I can think of in my head. I am currently offshore and cannot log into any of my apps as the internet out here in the promise land is slow. I added the Carmel in for informational purposes, I should have separated it for the forum. @Grainetbeard very well noted. @JrGtr I have additional Munich available and can increase to a pound or more as @MrOH stated. @thebriansmaude keep it at citra for the stated oz? @MrOH I can up the Munich to a pound I am highly considering the stated hop schedule.
