I am in the process of refurbishing a kegerator with a single tap chrome tower. The tower has some pits and rust spots on it. It is only cosmetic, but I would like to cover up the imperfections. I was thinking about just painting the whole thing black, but was wondering if anyone had any experience/suggestions for this? I am not married to painting if there is a better option.

I'd try metal polish first (never dull is a great product). Steel wool second. Paint third.

You could have it powder coated, but you would have to strip it of the chrome finish.

keep in mind if you strip the chrome finish the exposed metal is likely to rust without protection.

you might have success if you grind/polish the metal with a wire wheel, maybe simonize the bare metal and then a few light coats of clear spray poly.

a new 3" tower isn't terribly expensive however.
    Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just wanted to get my feet wet with kegging before I start upgrading. I will probably leave it as is for now and maybe just go with a double tap tower in the near future. Like you said not that expensive, and it will increase the hell out of my beer mobility.
