Anyone seen it? Particularly CNY, Syracuse to Utica area. Anxiously waiting.

Told we should see it first week of February. Going to be a busy month: nugget nectar, lagunitas sucks, palate wrecker, Great Lakes Alchemy Hour....

Right? I'm not sure I have the wallet, palate, or fridge space for all these hop bombs.

    What a nightmare :-)

On that note, any idea when we might see Alchemy Hour, other than just "February"?

wow i cant believe palate wrecker take that long to get out there
will it be another batch ? because the first batch hit here couple weeks ago
I also find that the first bottle I drank didnt taste as good as last years there was something different about it
not quite sure what but just didnt really think it was all that

Very likely different batches; there was a substantial lag in between street dates for PW last year between the West Coast and the Northeast, too, but when I had it you could tell it was as fresh as I could've hoped for.

More than likely, your perception is an issue of freshness. Even if you pay attention to bottle dates, the last time Palate Wrecker was bottled Green Flash wasn't dating (everything, at least) yet. So if you were psyched to see that this year you got a bottle that was four or six weeks old, it's entirely possible that last year you got a bottle that was one or two weeks old. But, who knows—maybe this year's is legitimately different than last year's.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to it.

I was down at green flash on January 12 and got it on tap there
then got bottles that same weekend that were dated January 5 so pretty sure it was as fresh as I am going to get
but judge for yourself it was good but I am just finding a lot of other IPA's that are so much better

Fair enough. I've found that Green Flash has a way with hops that just tickles my fancy, so my love for Palate Wrecker certainly may not be an indicator of universally-recognized quality.

What can I say? Last year it really took me for a roll in the hopyard, and I'm hoping this year is no different :-)

Just received this e-mail from Great Lakes, in response to my inquiry:

    Good morning Francis,

Thank you for your inquiry! At this point in time we do not have an exact release date for our seasonal brews. It typically depends on the area you are in and when it reaches the distributors/retailers/shelves. You should expect to see Alchemy Hour by mid-February, however, it can take a little longer. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Cheers!

So uh, mid-February sounds good to me. Nugget Nectar on February 4, Palate Wrecker sometime in between now and then, Alchemy Hour in mid-February, and Lagunitas Sucks should be here any day now, right?

Any updates on Palate Wrecker? Looking forward to Alchemy Hour, I think the newsletter said distro on the 18th.

I saw Palate Wrecker in Jacksonville, Florida on 12/27/12. Not sure why it's taking so long to make it to Upstate NY.

I remember when Rayon Vert came out, it took two or three months after it seemed to have hit most markets before it got to upstate NY.

Either way, I'm heartened by the fact that other markets who've just gotten it recently are getting bottles dated to January 30 and stuff like that—hopefully when it lands, it's fresh as hell in spite of the delay.
