    Heyo,

Ill be in Palo Alto next week for about a 6 days for work. I am from Chicago and haven't the slightest clue as to what might be worth visiting in the area. Any tips on shops, breweries, etc..?

    Thanks!

What he said. Even if you don't have a car, SF and Oakland are doable via train. Actually, train is ideal since you'll be drinking and stuff. I don't know much about the South Bay, but you're really selling yourself short by not at least getting into the City one or two nights.

5 years ago this was absolutely the case but the South Bay has finally caught on to craft beer with places like Original Gravity and Good Karma in downtown San Jose amongst others. If the OP has more time than SF and Oakland are certainly worth a visit but it's not as essential as it was a few years ago.

I kinda meant in general. Nothing against it down there, and I've heard very good things about the beer scene, but it's kind of like working in Jersey City for a week and never going into New York.

OK then, yeah agreed. I mean Oakland is the new Brooklyn after all.

If you take CalTrain into SF from downtown PA, you'll be within (healthy) walking distance of City Beer Store, Cellarmaker, and Mikkeller Bar. You'll also be extremely close to Public House, which is attached to the Giants stadium and has a pretty great taplist (Blind Pig always on tap). Just be careful about going to Public House during a game, which can be brutal.
