Wow... what a different brew. Pours black as night and you are expecting a Stout and BAM! Your taste buds are like "Whaaaaa????????!".

The more DFH beers I try, the more I love this brewery. Next up, 120 and Aprihop.

I love DFH...seems a lot of BA's don't...Aprihop is one of the most refreshing IPA's on the planet! And 120 is one of, if not the, strongest! Enjoy!!

I didn't think Palo Santo was anything special. I had a year-old bottle and it still ended up being possibly the hottest beer I've ever had. I'm probably in the minority though, as a lot of people really like it, especially with age.

Seriously, if you needed to choose just one "major" brewer to live on a deserted island with, DFH would be a solid choice.
The PSM is very complex. Smell just oozes cocoa and coffee and then the taste is something else. Really unique.

I'd pick sierra nevada or stone over dfh any day of the week, mediocre beer and the good stuff is way overpriced

I adore brown ales. This is definitely right up there at the elite level.

See, I feel the same about SN. I found their PA and Torpedo so-so at best. I think both do not hold a candle to 60/90/120.

Totally different breweries though. I personally agree that overall SN is a better brewery in terms of price, consistency etc, but dogfish head does well with different things. Experimentation for example. I know a ton of BA's trash talk DFH for their weird/bad beers, but if there was never any experimentation craft beer wouldn't be as exciting as it is. I can tell you I'm glad DFH experiments a lot. If it weren't for breweries like that we wouldn't have any of the crazy, delicious styles we have these days.

Ok that was more of a rant and not really a response to your comment... Sorry I went off track there.

Awesome brew! Big time DFH fan here. In fact I am putting on a beer dinner with them at my cousins restaurant.

DFH & Rogue constantly push the envelope, however not always with the best results. Sometimes I would just like a solid representation of a style and not spend my money on a funky mash-up of a style I may not like.
But someone's got to do it.
SN is one of the most solid breweries out there.(period)

I like brown ales pretty much never but I do love that beer. I keep neglecting to snag some for aging though. I'd really like to have one with a year or two on it.
