Is this one really hard to trade for b/c it's the first Parabola year? I've posted a couple ISO's and gotten crickets, and Parabola normally isn't very hard to trade for.
Few things: 1) FW has a rap for not aging well (though Parabola does) so less of it was probably stashed away, 2) People who did keep it are probably holding onto it for verticals, so it's not FT, & 3) IMHO (& others, since you got crickets) your ISO: for this beer wasn't enough. If someone hangs onto a beer for three years they usually have a plan for it, & you need to pry it away. Offering good, solid, limited current locals probably isn't going to do it unless you hit the right combo or have a previous trading partner who has one. Good luck. We opened one on both Darkness Day & New Year's Eve & it isn't as good as fresh, but still a top-flight beer.
right, thanks. my main tact was offering a 2011 Parabola +, but I can see how that might now be the most effective idea tx
2011 Parabola + definitely wont get done, 2011 Parabola is easier to get since it is a year newer and there was more of it to start. Also most people who have 2010 also have 2011. For reference, I traded mine and got a BBPt5 and a Supplication
thanks though - I would think a 2011 Parabola vs 1x BBPT5 + 1x Supplication isn't that far apart (I would think I could trade a 2011 Parabola for something like that?) but point taken
You could probably trade 2011 Parabola for the same thing. The reason 2011 Parabola+ for 2010 Parabola is not getting done isn't an issue with value, it is Ven Diagram issue. There isn't much overlap between People who want to trade away 2010 Parabola, and people who want to trade for 2011 Parabola. The type of person who has extra bottles of 3 year old Parabola also has extra bottles of 2 year old parabola.
If I recall correctly, there was quite a bit more 2011 made than 2010, not to mention the distribution footprint was much smaller back then. Try offering stuff not actually made in Cali and the chances for your ISO getting done go up.
