I got 3 bottles from CA and 3 in the south side already. Not at a Binnys either. I really do not want to support that place with lists, mark ups and the friends first deal that the local Binnys does here.

I used to work for a binnys and never observed that type of conduct. i dont think i ever see binnys with the highest prices during releases. I paid 16.99 for most of my bcs coffee, but it was 12 at binnys if you could make it there before they sold out, however.

I agree. Binny's is almost always the cheapest source in the city, but they also sell out the fastest. I have not a bad word to say about Binny's in general. However I think Theeabyss was specifically referring to the Binny's Express in Hyde Park, and they are kind of weird there, but I cannot comment on if they overprice or not, as I do not recall.

No I was not. I was referring to one in the suburbs. For instance I was just comparing prices last week. HOPPIN Frog was over retail, NB LYCHEE was over retail, Central Waters was over retail, GI Juliet was over retail, FFF is over retail but I just go to the pub for thatl. Last year Parabola was at retail but that it was really only available on second delivery.

I have sourced 2 other stores close to me that charge retail. Will put me on an actual list and tell you were you lie on the list and will hold your stuff for a few days till you can make it there.

Capone's got theirs in. They have a list though, and they are all spoken for. If you're on the list, go get it!

I'm mad at the above guy blowing the whistle on printers row! Tht's my favorite under the radar place and I planned to stop by after bar class. They sold out just before 530 :slight_frown:

Ugh! Hosting some guys for a BB-aged tasting tonight. Would love to work a Parabola into the mix.

Called Binny's in Schaumburg yesterday. Guy on the phone told me it came and went... What the hell?

Stopped out at Whole Foods, also in Schaumburg, and the guy working in the beer area was surprised to hear Parabola was out, and asked if I meant Sucuba. Not holding out hope for this one.

I just had a guy at my local Binny's tell me that "no stores got it yet" after checking the computer. When I informed him that Lincoln Park and So Loop had it last week and sold out, he basically called me a liar. So yeah... that's fun.

Is it just me, or does it get harder and harder to get solid reliable info about these releases as time goes on? The story I keep hearing is "I haven't heard anything from the sales rep." I have the sneaking suspicion that by Friday, the story will be "it came and went."

Just called a burbs Binny's by my work and spoke with the beer manager. He said he has no idea when he is getting it and I asked what was the deal with all the issues/uncertainty around this particular beer, he attributed it to there being 7 different Miller distributors and his being the smallest.

I know my local bottle shop is expecting it later this week, but we'll see.

I know I don't need to tell YOU this foobula as you're a regular but I would always caution people to only talk to the guy who actually buys the beer for the store. *shrug* Even if you call, ask to talk to the beer guy. We're friendly, we shower and use soap, we know what's going on with our store's beer schedule because we speak with the reps on a weekly basis. And as Tapedeck always says, if you're friends with the beer guy at your local store then you know what's going on. I tell my customers everything I know.

Yup yup, he's correct. A lot of us stores in the 'burbs get our stuff about a week or so behind the city stores.

Fair enough -- I've been placing a lot of calls after 7pm or around 9am, and missing all of the beer buyers. And the beer buyer at my local Binny's is on vacation -- lucky him!

I'm not trying to snag a ton of bottles, really I'd just like a couple. Not being on any lists, I've gotta do my research and hope to get lucky.

I think part of the problem is that information moves WAY faster on the internet then it does in real life.

However, i'll also go on record saying FSW is piss poor about getting information out there, which is a pity considering they do have someone that works in the city.
