Anyone know how close Atlas is to opening? They're supposed to be focusing on sours and other barrel aged beers.

Atlas Snags Distributor, Will Open with Three Beers

Atlas Brew Works may not yet have opened its Northeast D.C. brewery, but the local company did just get a distribution deal.
Atlas is going to partner with Premium Distributors, also based in D.C., to get its brews out to the public. That company will work to get the beer into stores and local restaurants.
Meanwhile, there's still some time before the brewery will debut its digs to the public. Originally gunning for spring, Atlas now says the facility will open sometime this summer. When it opens, three beers will be available: Rowdy, an American-style ale, District Common, which is made from Czech Saaz hops, and a third "surprise" brew. The brewery is bound for 2052 West Virginia Ave NE.

Atlas Brew Works Coming to Northeast DC

A homebrewer and a commercial brewer are teaming up to open Atlas Brew Works in Northeast DC come next year.
The new venture is a partnership between Will Durgin and Justin Cox, according to a press release. You'll be able to find the brewery at 2052 West Virginia Ave NE, and it will open some time in the first three months of next year.
The dirt on Durgin and Cox: The two became friends at Vanderbilt University (both were engineering students). Cox has spent eight years brewing beer at home, winning awards in contests such as the DC State Fair homebrew competition and the DC Homebrewers Association Contest. Durgin, for his part, has been brewing since college, and his resume includes stints at Telegraph Brewing Company in Santa Barbara and Pyramid Breweries in Portland, Oregon.
The brewery will be pretty large, at almost 10,000 square feet, and be open to the public for tours, tastings and growler purchases. The partners have been tracking some of their progress on the brewery's Facebook page.

Yeah, they only got 6 and I got one. I guess the Parabola buyers didn't see it or ask about anything else they had. Crazy if they weren't interested. I surely would have taken their share.

Why, in the name of Jean van Roy, is anyone talking about Atlas Brewing when there's Cantillon in a 50mi radius. Are other places getting any? Were the bottles 375s or 750s? How come there was no warning?

Because by the time these threads go up, there's about 2 bottles left of whatever people were talking about?

Sorry, you're saying you want OTWOA in exchange for some Parabola? If so, I'd gladly trade some of my OTWOA!

750ml, they were in a random wine box behind the counter. They had like 3 cases of Love Child #3 too.

Again. Definitely no Cantillon. Don't bother looking. Seriously.

Cantillon Geuze is at TW Sterling too. I think Mclean got some Rose de Gambrinus too. Out of the blue basically.

McLean Sure did get Rose de Gambrinus. No limit. They are on the shelf. 12 bottles. I can't make it over tonight. Hopefully someone wont be a D and buy them all.

This post probably doesn't help your chance of avoiding that.

While I knew that before posting, I also believe in helping those in search of. Jerks will always be jerks. Won't stop me from being helpful to people seeking good brew.

I wouldn't personally blame the consumer. I'd blame the retail establishment. If they're going to put that stuff on the shelf (which I can't fucking believe they did), they certainly shouldn't put their entire shipment on the shelf at once. Why Parabola and KBS goes behind the counter and Cantillon doesn't is beyond me. Maybe they don't know the value of what they have. Maybe it's because their phone isn't ringing off the hook for Cantillon. Either way, if it's there, we have the right to buy it, no? For the record, I bought one of each.

That said, when I see USDA prime ribeye's go on sale at Harris Teeter, I buy every single last one of those bitches. I guess I'm a better beer advocate than beef advocate.

I'll also add, I just called Total Wine Mclean, spoke to Matt and politely told him it would be wise to go grab it off the shelf and put it behind the counter before someone snatches it all up to trade. He was really nice about it, thanked me for the heads up, and said he'll go have someone pull it now. So hopefully if you make it there tomorrow, it'll be behind the counter, not on the shelf.

I think the main reason the stuff was on the shelf is it was not expected. Staff probably didn't know what they had when it was received. Thousands of cases come into that store.

What process educates the staff as to what they have? The amount of phone calls they get requesting it?

    Glad you got some.

Good call. I told him it was rare too. He had no idea. Had to spell out the name even. He said I was the first to call about it. Looks like your call clenched the reason to pull from the shelves.

So your why I can't ever find the good steaks at Harris Teeter?! I'll bring the beer if your grilling!
