I scored a Sucaba this year. Hoping to get lucky and snag a parabol too. Anybody know when we should expect this to hit the DMV?

Total Wine Chantilly has it on their "Coming Soon" chalkboard, but the lady behind the countrr had no idea what that meant when I asked her. I have talked to slighy more knowledgeble/helpful people at that store before, but was not so lucky this time. So, soon!

Last year I got it at Whole Foods Foggy Bottom in mid-April for $14.99. CT and Modern Liquors has it too but closer to $20.

From what I've heard we'll probably be seeing it early to mid April

^probably not...the official release from Firestone is the 21st and usually we see distribution a little later (from my experience)...as in usually in April. Also, Total Wines and whole foods have said they aren't sure when they will get it but that in the past it's usually in April-May. Hope that helps

Has anyone gotten any update on Parabola release in DMV? The people I have called and talked to seem to have no idea and blame crappy distro...

For what it's worth, I asked my guy in Baltimore yesterday and he said probably the next 2-3 weeks but he had not been told a specific time frame.

My guess is wine source and beltway will get a few cases. Mid april sounds about right.

FW is notoriously slow with the distro around here. I see some union and double jacks dated from last july sitting in some stores.

Why doesn't Firestone Walker ditch their distributor? Other west coast breweries like Stone and Ballast Point have no trouble getting stuff onto shelves days after bottling.

I think Bell'ls must use the same distributor because it took a month for hopslam to hit shelves here in NOVA

Bell's is with Hop and Eine, as is Founders. FW to s with Premium. You cannot get out of distribution deals.

FW is with Specialty Beverage as is Ballast Point. Stone and Bell's are with Hop and Wine. Suffice to say, it's more complicated than the distributor wishing (or not, as some people think) to get product to the shelf as quickly as possible. Running a beer wholesaler was always complicated, even when all your AAL's were good for 12 months. I'm sure they'd hire you if you understand the situation and have ideas!

I called a few total wines today about this and one said either this Tuesday or next and the other said either this thursday or next. Sounds like a haphazard estimation, honestly

This^^. In general distributors are not sitting around refusing to bring in highly sought after huge margin beer. When you are shipping beer generally it is once a month deliveries so when a beer is released in a brewery's home market you're going to have to wait until the next truck arrives for all other markets, which could be up to 30 days (or more). I will say Firestone has been a bit more erratic with their releases in the past but it is impossible to know if it is the brewery or the distributor unless you are the logistics coordinator for either.
