I've also wondered this, especially since some stores don't put stuff out right away/at all.

Maybe those that chase want to keep their methods to themselves? I don't plan to start. Just curious as we often hear of truck chasing.

I could understand driving around the middle of the day when you know something is released. Maybe that's all it is.

The (very) few folks who do this usually have contacts on the inside who work for the distributor and know the schedule. Or they befriend the shop owners and build a list of days/times to skip from one location to the next.

Some people just want it more. Too much IMO.

If you call old line in CP, they may very well have a bottle or two left. They got it yesterday.

No apparently there are people who have no life... and actually follow the vehicles store to store, waiting for them to drop the allotments off when delivered and repeat the process as they go from store to store to store buying all they can of it.

I've never witnessed it myself, but in other threads were truck chasing comes up often in discussions others have talked about it and seen it.

I miss the days when you could have a full time job and be able to pick up a bottle on the way home.

Actually there's a thread on this in the main beer talk right now.

I think, in the typical random beeradvocate thread deleting fashion, that thread is gone.

Not Parabola, but I stopped by Shawan today to grab an extra for a trade, and they had one of each 2013 Sucaba, and Anniversary 17. $20 and $30 respectively, it took a lot of will power not to buy both as I'm trying to cut back on beer expenses. Hope they find a good home, also put out some Bruery beers, Bois and Sucre.

That's like spotting a unicorn haha. I've never seen "whales" like that sitting out on the shelves there but shawan is still one of the best stores in the baltimore area none-the-less.

I've noticed that at random times, they seem to put some of their better stuff on the shelves without notice. I asked them about Abraxas when it was released, and was told it was gone. Then about a week later while browsing, they had one just chilling on a shelf. Also heard someone found a four pack of BCBCS two years ago, just sitting months after release. Guess it pays to make frequent visits just to browse, you never know what you may find.

So what was the price on the 9L? =)

I did a quick search online and found a picture of a FW guy opening up TWO 9L of Parabola. Had no idea that was a real thing. Damn.

I have pretty much figured out the route the truck goes based on seeing the postings of the beers on facebook/ twitter by the bottle shops. When a bottle shop in vienna posts they got X at 11:30am, then a place in Falls Church posts they got X at noon and a place in West Arlington posts they got X at 1pm and another place in South Arlington posts they got X at 2pm (in order from west to east), it is easy to figure out it is the same truck. And it is assumed the truck does the same route each week on the same day.

also, for the top beers the truck driver buys up one bottle at each stop. I have seen this first hand. he probably stockpiles and then sells them to supplement his delivery driver income.
