Where is it? I've called a couple spots but no luck... Anyone seen it yet?

I've contacted many North County bottle shops, and most aren't getting their allotted case until the week of 5/14. Good luck!

    Freddie had it @ $18.99.

  5. ehammond1

But that's at least $4 more than anybody should be spending on a bottle of Parabola. And you have to deal with Freddie. No, thank you.

You don't want to pay $6.99 for PtE, or $30 for BR Hammerhead? ???? Perhaps the new low price of $15.99 for Supplication?

Who's Freddie? Sounds like a real winner.

He used to be about $1 more than everywhere else. Now he averages $2 more if the beer is under $10. 4$ more if the beer is $10 - $20. $8 more $20 - $30. The forumla continues.

The Brewery is selling it for 15.99 with a 4 bottle limit. So he is only over charging 3 bucks.

  13. ehammond1

    ehammond1 Jul 4, 2008

And for some reason I still don't understand, FW beers are MORE expensive at the brewery than they are at local, San Diego bottle shops. Anniversary XV, for example, was $24.99 at the brewery, and I saw it at multiple locations in San Diego at price points between $18.99-$22.99.

Yeah, he's "only" charging 19% over the brewery price...funny how context makes a difference.

Russian River is the same way. They just post their suggested retail price. After that anybody can move it up or down. The bottle shops might lower the price of the super popular, hard to get beers in hopes that you will go in there all the time for the rest of your beer buying days? I am not too sure to be honest with you.

With a few exceptions (Alpine comes to mind), you can routinely get beer at lower prices from retailers than the breweries themselves. My understanding is that this is because breweries don't want to undercut their retailers.

I think it goes beyond that Since CA is a two tier distribution state I don't think they can legally undercut their suggested retail price.

I looked for it all over North County today (BevMo Escondido and Oceanside, Holiday Wine Cellar, Texas Wine and Spirits, Whole Foods Encinitas) and couldn't find it. I ended up going to Orange County to find it. I was told by every store other than BevMo Escondido that they will be getting it on Wednesday the 16th.

Freddy is getting all of it apparently. *smacks head on table*

3rd case of it in I see. I keep waiting and waiting for someone else to get it.

    2 cases spotted @ BDBS.

Was on the way but turned around - asked them on Facebook how much the bottles were, reply was "don't know yet, probably $19." I guess Freddy is setting the pricing precedent in San Diego.

I have noticed BDBS is ratcheting up pricing on quite a few items. I will stick to Fullers for now.

$19 at BDBS? What the fuck?
Anyways, just picked up two bottles at BevMo Carmel Mountain.

  29. evilc

    evilc Jan 27, 2012 California

I talked a bit of smack to them about it - they came back with $17.99 as the "real" price. If I won't let Freddy jack me anymore, I won't let BDBS either.

Our bottles are a bit more expensive, but it may help that I'll have it on tap this Friday:)

This is the lineup for Friday:
    -Parabola
    -Sucaba
    -B.A. Velvet Merkin
    -Wookey Jack
    -Double Jack
    -Unfiltered DBA
    -Pale 31
    -Solace
    (Cask)-Union Jack

I'll most likely have these tapped by 5:00 pm. 70 person capacity so don't take your time.

...is a complete waste of time and a total joke. Though apparently it somehow works for FosterJM up in Chino Hills. It's never worked for me. I got an "In Stock" notification this morning at 4a.m. from BevMo Oceanside. I went there on my lunch break and they gave me the stink-eye when I asked about Parabola. They told me that hopefully it's on tomorrow's truck.
Why oh why is Firestone Walker so tough to find?

Firestone prides itself on being a "local" beer. They said in a news interview that 80% of all beer they make is sold within 100 miles of the brewery and 98% within a days drive. I personally have zero problem finding it.

Just picked up a bottle at BevMo Encinitas. Limit 1 for now... the employee said they don't have much left. They're getting another shipment on either Friday or Wednesday, then a third shipment when they'll lift the limit. $15.99 isn't too shabby either.

Their online thingy says they have 71 bottles. With a 1 bottle limit, that sounds like it'll last awhile.
