Parabola - Release Sightings

I'd snatch up any Barleywine I saw around but haven't come across any since December...

 

Yeah, both for Goose Island and for Firestone, the barleywine gets a lot less attention. I'm fine with with that, as I find them to be the superior product, but it does mystify me a bit. §ucaba still sits around while people go foam at the mouth for Parabola.

 

I find barleywines to be an acquired taste for most people. I use to be all about them the last couple years but I've stopped liking them as much. I do have some BCBW and Sucaba I'm sitting on to see how they develop in the future though. I've only had Sucaba once (back east on tap) and wasn't impressed, so we'll see.

 

To me a good barleywine is like super-beer---all the great breadiness, fruitiness, nuttiness that first hooked me in beer, but turned up to 11. While I enjoy stouts---with the roasty swirl of chocolate and coffee---quite well too, barleywines just seem more interesting.

I just got Parabola at the Northridge TW for $15.49, so I am not sure where the $20 price came from, maybe different stores can change their prices? Although it was limit 1. Where can I find that Goose Island?

They had it listed online for $20.99 but they price match Bevmo and/or figured out that Bevmo was charging $15.99 and knocked fifty cents off at their store.

Bevmo on 19th St JUST got it in. They got in 2 cases, I bought the first bottle (limit 1)

I tried to price match at TW and was shot down. They told me they wouldn't do it for a special release.

This was the laguna hills location.

 

yeah, i get what you're saying. and "she" did agree to resolve my issue in the end. but it's kind of laughable to me that the customer service department can't help you out with customer service issues. i was also pissed that they changed my order, and went ahead and processed it, without notifying me. if you ordered 10 cd's from amazon, would it be cool if they changed it to 1 cd and just edited the invoice and sent them off?

no i know what you are saying & agree with you. just providing you with some potential context which might hopefully keep you from jumping in your avatar & rolling over to Customer Service to verbally smash on "Melissa" in person.

speaking candidly, i figure arming you with the reality it might be a case of: "The system is f'd up" as opposed to "The [bad word] on the other end of this convo is f'd up & toying with me on purpose" - might warrant a different reaction/response.

 

@RobH would you be able to clarify that there is no price matching at TotalWine for special/limited releases? I had thought that they were price matching pretty much everything to competitors prices considering generally, TotalWine can't be beat.

 

TW Brea did the price match for me yesterday. However, they did seem uneasy about it. The manager went so far as to call the Bevmo manager to confirm the online pricing and inventory. It kinda made me feel like I was attempting to pull a scam.

 

no, i never really considered it a situation of your second scenario there. but stand by my statement that their "customer service" line is inept. if you are customer service and you can't help me with a simple thing like canceling an order then i rate your customer service at about a 0

 

I had no problem price matching at the Brea location.

You probably were in there before me. All they did was ask me the price and the manager put in the discount.

 

I got the deal so I really shouldn't complain.

 

Just left TW northridge. 15.49 per and one bottle limit an there was only about 10 left.

 

Thats where I did it. They Price matched for me

 

I would call TW's customer service if they didnt give it to you because thats BS. Thats their policy and they are selling it for $.50 cheaper at a few other locations
