Rancho Bernardo would be "RB" (home of the newlywed and nearly dead)

It hit OC Costco's today and it's sold out in minutes. Most local stores are only getting 24 bottles and one or two guys will walk in and buy 6, 12 or 18 and they're gone.

Those local stores are run by idiots if they aren't putting on a bottle limit.

I really don't think they know what they have. Like some other chains, they just assume it's another beer to put on the shelf.

3 years ago or so, I could see that. Now?

It's more than fairness; it's smart marketing. Though not an absolute, there is a good chance that people buying a bottle or two of a whale will pick up something else while they are there. If they show up at the store and they are out, they won't buy anything, and people buying a half case to a case of beer aren't likely to pick up extra beer either.

He's talking about Costco, not specialty bottle shops.

Do you guys expect Parabola to be that hard to find once it hits the LA area? I know it's more sought out than Sucaba but I still see Sucaba in nearly every beer store I walk into.

Yes I was referring to Costco only. Usually Bevmo or TW will do a limit even. Not all locations but some. Most specialty shops know to limit.

I just called Fountain Valley Costco. They said one guy came in and bought all 24 bottles they got. They were $11.50. I was in there at 9:50 this morning and there were none out on display. I don't know if said guy got them before I came in or if Costco put them out after I left.

I mean really...dude buys all 24 bottles. Thanks.

    Overall... Nah

It's this bargain price Costco thing creating a little chase at the moment 'cos it's basically "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" at Costco for all intents and purposes.

Yes, now that I reread that I can see that. The "most local shops" threw me; I thought he was talking about your average package store.

So is the general agreement that TW might have some on Wednesday or Friday since thats when they get their shipments in?

could also be 'Cordova', (outskirts of Sacatomatoes), but i assume the location you named is what was meant.

that sucks! strategically speaking. i'd bet that 1 guy probably knows the location's beer buyer. as your consultant, i'd advise you to find out who the buyer is & get to know them 'better' than that other guy, for next time of course.

I got mine at Los Feliz Costco. Had to ask the manager to grab it from the back, they just got it this morning. They only got 18, 6 were left when I walked out of there around 11a. Hate the game, son! Hehe

Now he's reselling them at his liquor store for 25 bucks a pop no doubt.

I've never seen any Costco in San Diego carrying BA FW beers. And as AFAIK, it has not landed at any of the San Diego usual suspects yet (Bevmo, etc.).

That is a real dbag move if the person who bought them knew that was their whole supply.

I doubt they cared either way.
