Sorry to put up another annoying trade speculation thread. I just don't have any intention of trying to trade for this right away as I wait to see if we'll get this in our area. If it did come to that, do you guys think it would be fair to trade a Parabola ('11 or '12) and a Sucaba for a Cherry Rye, or is this way off the mark? The distribution doesn't seem to overlap too much but I really have no idea how desirable the FW beers are. Thanks in advance for your input!

Seems more than fair to me, even downright generous, but I don't think there's a great handle on what Cherry Rye is going for given that it hasn't even rolled out everywhere yet.

I think it's generous. However the fast majority of people think that Cherry Rye is an instawale because it was a small batch beer that hit distro. Also, it came from the midwest.

i would say its more than enough, but the way people are treating the trade value right now it could be tough. Yesterday somebody was trying to trade a cherry rye for 2x Juicy. no way will this trade ever happen, especially since cherry rye will hit vt

I think it's a very fair and generous trade, but I wouldn't do it because I was able to get my hands both being from Chicago.

Waiting for Cherry to hit other markets that don't get FW would be a good idea and probably will help let the instawhale hype die down.

Hypothetically speaking, if I had a Cherry, I'd probably take the trade because Parabola and Sucaba are freaking amazing.

Of course, all of the above is assuming you are who you say you are in your profile. Because since this website is likely comprised of about 90% men, this trade could get done for you.

If a dude asked the same question, the likely response would be "not a chance. Didn't you know Cherry Rye BCBS is an instawale...?!? You gotta offer me more than that BRO".

Personally, I think the trade could get done. You just have to wait until more regions get it.

i don't think this could be done right now with cherry being available primarily in chicago. i'm with Treebs on this, wait until it goes to other markets. sucaba is still sitting on shelves around here and parabola wasn't that hard to find. $4$ is fair, but cherry is way harder to find.

Thanks gents! I do plan to wait until it's available everywhere before attempting to trade, and who knows, I might be lucky enough to score a bottle without trading. I know it's already a bit of an "instawale" and it does seem to be commanding some heavy hitters, so I'd be okay with letting both the FW beers go if needed. Appreciate all the helpful advice!

Definitely a woman, although it would be smart/creepy to posture as a woman on the boards otherwise .

$4$ wise and quality wise way more than fair, but parabola and sucaba have (in my experience) been much easier to come by, and the kind of person that is trading a cherry rye is going to want something higher end.

Cherry Rye is a total shite-show right now, plus, I swear the # of ISO's for Vanilla has gone up by 300% and Bramble by about 150% due to this release as well. Best to wait a few months and then look for them, as really - it can't get any worse I don't think...

Agree. But I honestly don't think it has a chance in hell of getting done. Most of those who landed Cherry Rye and are veteran BA's probably have Parabola and Sucaba by the box because it's easier to find (and logged in their outlook calendar years in advance). Juding by the ISO's flooding the forum the past month or so, many of the Cherry Rye landers are new to trading (and beer) and want the maximum value possible as they do with every other beer they get their shiny callous free hands on.
