You can't buy directly from the distributor unless you're a licensed retailer. 100%.

I have no idea really. I've never heard of someone trying to do it. And if it's illegal I'm not going to try and break the law to get BB3. But I'm sure as hell going to ask.

I'm not sure; I asked, and was a little bit confused by the answer. Let me get the post:

On premise purchase, yeah, but can I purchase it and keep it for later? If there's a bottle limit, I don't know why they wouldn't let us do this...

What you're describing is off-premise... As in you buy it and drink it off premise at home.

Why? Margins. You're more likely to purchase food/other drink if you have to drink it there. Also the 2-300% markup on wholesale at restaurants vs 20-30 at a retail store.

Oh. So "on premise purchase" = "on premise consumption". They could have phrased that better!. And... I want to go, get some 2013 on tap, get some food, and pick up a bottle of 2012! The fear you mention is reasonable, but it kind of sucks to be shafted by it.

They're going to sell me the bottle and stare me down until I open it? I can hop that little white picket fence if necessary.

I think what they typically do is grab the bottle, open it before giving it to you, and pour it right there. :slight_frown:

I don't know if you've ever noticed... but beer on-premise is always opened when you get it. A TABC certified server for the licensed retail establishment has to open (or "cork") it for you. Very rarely do they hand you an unopened beer, and if they do... they're doing it wrong.

That's a Texas thing, btw. In Florida there are bars where you actually pour your own beer (imagine that). Oh, and I went to very a many $10 all-you-can-drink nights at bars in college there. Here the TABC agents would faint at the thought.

Alright let me put an end to this speculation. I just called Banger's and asked if the bottle sales would be for on-premise consumption and he said no it's cool if you take it to go with you. He sounded semi-confident. Let's hope this is true.

Haha no. I went there for BB1 actually and the guy I bought the bottle from was scrambling to find a bottle opener and I say "Oh I have one" and reach for the bottle and the guy says "Nooooooooooooooooooooo you can't do thaaaaaaat" but way less dramatic and took it from me.

Not today, but I hear that Specs won't be selling it until they get their Tuesday deliveries. I'm imagining it will be at some HEB's and other shops tomorrow, though.

Just covering the bases bro ;-) And don't worry about my guns, ammo is selling like beer now...one box per customer, so it's rarer than Fortuna Roja.
