Jean is incredibly friendly as are most [all, with the caveat that maybe I haven't interacted with everybody] of the staff in one on one interactions. What worries me is the lack of consideration of people's time.

There's a BBQ joint in Austin that serves insane enough brisket that people line up for their 11 AM opening as early as 6 or 7 AM. They learned really quickly that instead of letting folks linger once they open, they could do a headcount (nothing scientific, just go up to each person in line and get a ballpark of how much they're going to buy) and then hand a sign to someone in line indicating that, beginning with this guy/gal, everyone remaining isn't guaranteed anything. They could, and likely will, run out. They play it safe and there tends to be a bit of overflow after that person each time they do this, but it allows people behind that mark to make other plans and try again next time without then waiting for the entire rest of the line to move, then be told they're shut out. This would be an incredibly easy change to make (hell, I'm sure someone in line would volunteer to do a head count, so many people are already doing it anyway) and would majorly improve on the hurt feelings of those who get shut out after anticipating that they're midway through or toward the end of the bottle allocation for the entire time they're in line.

Add on additional pieces to the puzzle (we all know what that was today) that make the line move much slower than it usually does, and it really does smack of a lack of respect of (at worst) or an ignorance of (at best) your customers' time spent waiting to buy your beer.

This sucks, i feel bad for everyone who got shut out. I haven't been to a bottle release at tired hands since Para1 and that one went pretty well. Everyone who lined up before noon got bottles. I didn't go to Para2 but my buddy did and he actually got out of line when it looked hopeless, and then got back in line after the line was almost done and ended up with bottles. Not sure if you can really blame anyone for this though (only thing I'd critique is the bottle limit, 2 was fine for the previous para releases), these events are just going to be more and more popular unfortunately. Maybe prerelease ticketed sales a'la Alesmith is the way to go.

Drove 6 hours from Rochester NY, arrived at 8.35am, got shut out. Gutted. Every count we got was between 180 and 190. First and last TH release for me unless they change their policy.

I am constantly amazed at how easy the solutions are and how much they are ignored. The only place that listens to suggestions is Forest and Main. It was suggested that they adjust bottle counts if there is a huge line and they have said that they reserve the right to adjust so people don't walk away empty-handed. Bravo! Someone made the suggestion of cash sales and they adjusted. Bravo! Someone said to have the bottles in a different area than the bar and they adjusted. Bravo!

It's really very simple. Like others have said, hard to imagine that they have no interest in making the releases more enjoyable.

They are too busy making strange and beautiful beers with really awesome names to listen to what people say.

I'm in the same boat with everyone else: arrived at 8:30, was approximately 180th in the line, and got shut out, but the worst part was, the last bottle was sold right before my turn to purchase so I felt the shut out to the fullest. I was so close yet so far, so you can only imagine how I felt.

The only reason this release was somewhat bearable was that a friend of mine a little bit ahead of me felt so bad he sold me one of his bottles. Needless to say, you won't find me at another TH release, that's for sure. The whole system of how they manage the releases is total BS. I'm sorry for all of the newcomers and people who traveled a long distance to attend this release experienced this garbage.

Does it suck getting shutout? Yes, but everyone that shows up knows they run that risk and choose to go. Is it fair to cut the bottle limit for the guy that was first in line just so the guy that made less of an effort to get there gets some. Cutting limits may get a few more people bottles but there would still be people in these release threads complaining about not getting any.

Hopefully the new facility and the club fix some of the issues but no matter what theres still gonna be people moaning and groaning

And I forgot too add, waiting for Chipotle to open across the street at 11 to grab some food was better than anything that happened during the whole day.

Oh, 8:30! Shortly after we were turned away, Jean asked me when I had gotten in line and I said 7:30 because I was so flustered. 8:30. Still.

People are moaning and groaning because Tired Hands doesn't do anything to regulate the line cutting. Not because they didn't change the limit.

The moaning and groaning is easily preventable with some kind of ticketing, wristband, or otherwise oganized lineup system.

They should name one of their beers line cutter pale ale.

Parageusia #4 could end up like this

#3 already looked like that, except the customers were a lot more polite despite being told by an actor playing a man from space that they'd run out of bottles.

There were security guards there and line cutting. LAME

These problems are easily addressed. I tend to agree with many that TH does not really care.

Got there at 9:45 and thought I'd have a chance. Not even close. At least the tap list was killer today.

Can't wait for the Believer's Club reservation system to take effect.

Security guard mentioned to us that he'd probably not notice line cutters since "everyone looks the same" in line. Bang-up job, man.

I'm not a BC member but wasn't the reservation system one of the selling points? Why would they not implement it right away?
