Ah yes, the guy whose feelings are hurt (your words) about not getting a beer is questioning my maturity. Gotta love it.

My feelings aren't hurt about the beer, I just think they could do a better job of providing transparency to those in line so people's time isn't wasted more than it needs to be. Direct your shitty vitriol elsewhere. Thanks.

Yeah, I get it, turn up early and avoid missing out. But how early is early? This is going to turn into an Apple release scenario where you need to camp out the night before? Then the guys turning up at 6am will miss out and start bitching. Then what? Something needs to change. Silent bottle releases should be the way to go a la Captain Lawrence, or follow how Voodoo just released the new barrel room set.

Reading this I am so glad that I took off at 9:15 instead of sticking around after my unofficial count. Sorry to all of you who traveled so far. There are cutters, but not to the degree of 40 people. People just move around a lot in line to say hi to friends or make runs for ...coffee... so it is hard to get an exact count.

Tickets work when done right, requiring ID, spacing out a schedule, etc. There will always be mules no matter what the system.

I am one of those in the minority who will never come to a bottle release once BC opens up... At least while my membership is valid.

To comment on the arrival time "discrepancy," I arrived after a four hour drive and got into line at 8:30 on the dot. When I was finally able to get beer there seemed to be three cases left. 845-9 seems to have been the cutoff point. Thanks to Vinny Vanilla and everyone else I met in line who made it a great day and first experience at Tired Hands.

    There is no perfect scenario.

    - Silent releases just ensure only locals get bottles. Everyone else is angry.
    - Announced releases cause crowds and lines. People who get shut out get angry because they waited in line.
    - Ticketed means more mules (since you can just leave line and go home and come back). Again, people who get shut out because of mules get angry.

I think tickets help, but doesn't solve the problem. I do think it will allow people to decide if they want to stay in line, which causes the most frustration when you get shut out.

My personal rule is: If I am NOT on the main sidewalk in FRONT of the Post Office, I may not get bottles.

Aside from trading (which is hardly Tired Hands' problem to worry about whether people can trade away their beer or not), what's to stop them from just having a 1 bottle per person limit for future releases?

You're right, your sense of entitlement is indeed ridiculous. Giving everyone the finger because you have 5+ hours to spare driving to a line and then standing in it is about as bratty and entitled as it gets. I think people who can't or won't prioritize beer to this degree but would still like a realistic chance to drink the limited beer from a place they spend a lot of their hard-earned money at isn't entitled.

TH doesn't care that people have to stand there for hours to not get any beer. I think that's clear. It's pretty simple to hand out tickets or wristbands as people arrive, and then when you're out of tickets, tell people arriving that they aren't guaranteed anything. It takes a little bit of effort and a cheap roll of raffle tickets or pack of wristbands to do this, but they continue not to. It wouldn't eliminate mules, but it would eliminate line jumping, and eliminate the need for people to stand in line for hours and come home empty-handed.

If you're employing security staff that just sort of linger around and shoot the shit with people, why not give them a box of wristbands?

How do you know that the guy that was first in line gave more effort? Maybe he lives on the block and had to roll out of bed and walk 5 minutes whereas someone driving 6 hours put in far more "effort" to get there at 8:30 and get shut out.

I have no horse in this race as I was not there and would not wait in line that long for any beer. Saying that if I had a business that my policies are having people drive hours and wait hours and then get nothing, I would be changing my policies. It is just a matter of common courtesy.

I am still stuck on people glaring at woody as he walked by with his bottles as he laughed inside to himself. Make sure you introduce yourself next time so I know who actually says something like that.

You do realize that the wristband and ticket methods have failed at other releases, right? Especially the cheap ones someone could buy and pass off as being legit?

I wouldn't want to see anyone glare at people with wristbands as they laugh inside to themselves. Perish the thought.

I'll be the one in the tent at the head of the line at the Para4 release.

You're screwed then, you'll have to sit there for hours then listening to the dude with the sandals talk non-stop. It really is a tough call. Get there really early, you have to listen to him, get there later, you are subject to the Ardmore Shuffle that takes place in the line, get there a bit late and you get shut out. No safe landing spot.

If you get there early enough though, you can leave your seat and hang out in IHOP for hours without anyone questioning your place in line. Pretty sweet fringe benefit.

Someone did question the people in line that went to IHOP for an hour. At least the ones by me.
