Just moved here today from West Village (goodbye Blind Tiger). Just wondering what recommendations people have. Been to Bierkraft, Mission Dolores, Double Windsor, 4th Av pub, Owl Farm. Interested in new bars, but particularly in places I can get growler fills (not inc Bierkraft or PH beer works). Cheers!

Yeah I use Beermenus a lot. Was looking for local recommendations that may not be on bm, or may not be obviously solid. I.e. if someone had just moved to west village, they wouldn't find rabbit club on bm

Pacific standard fills growlers, so does either 4th ave pub or mission Dolores. I forget which one.

Cool, glad you liked it. It's a little far for me, but I stop in now and again. Staff is very friendly.

The Gate on 5th Ave and 3rd St has a decent tap list and has good events.

Off the top of my head, other places for growler fills are:
    -Bark
-Zitos (both are Sixpoint only though)

Brooklyn Larder is a fancy food shop similar to the Ploughman and has decent bottles but no taps.

Best beer secret in PS is the Park Slope Food Coop. Aside from being super cheap for your groceries they have a really great beer selection and get in some pretty great beer for cheap (eg yesterday I bought a couple Stone RuinTen for $7.11 each). It gets a lot of stupid coverage in the news for whatever weird votes are going on about banning plastic bags or products from Israel but honestly that seems like a bigger deal to non-members than anyone that I know is a member.

Sorry but kind of off the beer topic. However I have been following the thread, and have visited a lot of these bars. Have really liked 4th Ave Pub. I am moving to Park Slope in 2 months and need a car for my job every day. How difficult is it to find a parking spot at end of the day?

    It's difficult, but doable.

I've been in Park Slope for almost six years, if you're driving every day and leaving before street cleaning starts you'll be fine.

I think most of the growler places have been covered, but for bars in PS I recommend The Gate, draft list isn't always crazy, but solid, and the bartenders are really nice. They usually have pretty good brewery/tap takeover events as well.

I don't think High Dive on 5th and Carroll has been mentioned, but they have a good draft list and free popcorn, it's right next to Pork Slope.

Underrated is the 5th Ave Market on Berkeley just north of Bierkraft. They have a pretty good selection, bodega prices (which can be better than Bierkraft's) and awesome deli sandwiches (also cheaper than Bierkraft). That's not to rag on BK though, if you treat it as a bar and drink there it's worth it, as a bottle shop it's overpriced.

Uncle Barry's on 5th and Bergen has a small but good selection.

The Key Foods (on 5th and also the one on Flatbush) both have pretty good 6-pack selections and prices for a grocery store, they get good seasonals as well.

Just remembered American Beer Distributors, it's in Carroll Gardens, but all their growler fills are $10 and they have pretty good stuff on tap. They don't keep their list updated online but you can call and ask what they have on. 64oz. of Avery Czar and Double Crooked Tree for $10 beats anything else in the area, great bottle selection too.

Thanks a lot. Yeah we're definitely joining the coop. Seems to be a love/hate type place, but my b-in-law's sister raves about it

Bar Great Harry is pretty legit. Owned by the Owl Farm, Mission D folks and there's a bartender that calls everyone "baby" like Vince Vaughn in Swingers. Creepy at first, yes. Endearing after the 3rd Paradisi.
