Has anyone tried any of their Skully Barrel #'s yet, and if so how do they stack up to other great sours, and if anyone has any bottles to trade, would like to know what the value is on the bottles also, thanks!

I think there are 10 of them out now. They are solid and worth a try. Paradox has an odd beer program. I'm never sure what they are doing with their beers. They all used to come in tall bombers, now they switched to short ones. Better for the wallet, but not a better deal per ounce

Actually, the number keeps growing. Our store just got a blueberry sour and a peach sour in today. Most of them seem to be coming in 500ml bottles.

I have access to all of them. Let me know which ones you want to trade for. Message me.

Well put. I have not had good luck with the several I've tried, but maybe others like their beer swarming with random organisms more than I do. My favorite was Non Fatal Souls Stout Project - Whiskey Barrel which I called a "Tangy and powerful brew that is more of a dark roast rocket fuel than a beer."

There are 14 skully barrel's and they are rather hit or miss. Skully #8 and Skully #13 are my current favorites while the other range from weak to pretty good.

And yes there is no rhyme or reason to their releases, it's rather what they feel like brewing at the moment. I can dig that.

If you ever visit their tasting room it is 100's of various barrels and smells pretty awesome :stuck_out_tongue:

Skully #5 was my favorite back when they did 750ml swing-tops (strictly 500ml bottles now). They do a lot of sours though, not just the Skully series and everything is barreled/blended and uses "Paradox Fermentation - Bottle Conditioned."

They have a stated goal of releasing three new beers every month and usually hit that goal so there is a LOT out there, though most are pretty small batches so if you like one, stock up while you can before it's gone for good.

I love the Skully series. Just had #11 last night (a sour red aged for 18 months in French oak). Damn that was good.

Pardox 500ml range from $10-$13 depending on which one you're looking for. I was a huge fan of WW when i visited Asheville back in May, if you need to line something up, I'd be happy to help out (as would most people ITT I imagine).

Skully #5 is long gone though sorry to say.

Skully #10 is one of my favorites and I think a few bottles are still floating around.

I just wish they'd make that damned cherry doppelbock aged in cab barrels again.
Quite possibly my favorite beer I've ever had from Colorado.
