I'll be passing through Indy on my way to Michigan. Coming up on 70 and around the loop to 69. Is there an easy to get to bottle shop near my path to land some ZD or other goodies??

When are you coming up? I might be able to meet you along 69 or near FT. Wayne with some fresh ZD from the brewery.

I'll be passing through on Saturday. We're stopped in St Louis now.

There isn't really an easy or guaranteed ZD pickup unless someone is willing to help you out.

There is only one sure way to get ZD if you are driving up from St Louis...bring Side Project.

I'd think SP trades a little higher than ZD, personally. But it would certainly guarantee that a deal got done...

Of course, you can't really just pick up SP on your way through STL without some luck.

Its very likely going to be on tap at the brewpub in Munster

Sorry, I can't help you out. I'm out of town myself unfortunately. There are some places in South Bend that might have some. But good luck.

Try Pat's Liquors in Portage. Might not find ZD but it's worth the stop.

As OP is traveling 70 around Indy to North 69, he won't be remotely close to Portage. Probably best options without deviating too far off your route would be Crown Liquors, Payless in Indy, Muncie Liquors in Muncie, Belmont in Fort Wayne (all info in BA). Distribution is pretty spotty and seemingly random for ZD. You have to time it correctly to even get some at the brewery, much less in a liquor store. Those places would likely have other 3F beers, though.
    Trade would probably be "easiest"

It's possible my store will get some of Friday, but we're never sure what we're getting until it arrives. If we do get some, I'll get one for you and reply here. It's located on the south side, pretty close to the 465/65 split. So, it won't be too much of a deviation from your trip.

^^^right there tells you all you need to know about the "ease" of getting ZD. The stores don't even know if they will get it week to week! And if they do most only seem to get a case maybe 2 at a time! I snagged a sixer this morning at my local Indy spot but I was the 3rd in line at 8:30 for their one case they get and limit to a 6 pack each

It is interesting that they would break up a single case by 6 packs. In MI, it would sold by the bottle, probably with a limit of 1 or 2. Chalk another one up to terrible or awesome regional differences depending on how you see it.

Damn, wish I saw this post in time... I was right on the route and could've hooked you up... will be open to a trade at a later time or if you pass through again. If you meant this upcoming weekend, I'm unavailable, but any other time...seriously.

They sell them by the case or the 6 pack at the brewery. There are some stores that sell both ZD and Gumballhead by the bottle and limit it to a couple bottles of each. I'm not sure why you see it as interesting though. 6 packs are common are they not?

I don't think he is interested in it at all. Singles are great for trying something new that you are iffy about or putting together a mixed pack for a party or tasting or something but other than that not sure why anyone would want them. I think he is trying to say that it's hard to find stores in MI that will keep highly sought after beers together in a single pack. They break them up into singles to a) be able to get beer in more people's hands and thus more people into the store to hopefully buy other things, and b) mark them up and make a few more bucks over a group pack.

This seems to be the trend with seasonal, one-time brewed, hard to get releases. I'm not sure this applies to a beer available (albeit not easily available) year-round. If you miss this weeks' ZD, you can try again next week. You miss this week's KBS, you missed this year's KBS. It also seems to be the local corner stores, not the larger chains. The Bell's planets were being sold as singles on the corner stores, but I saw sixer's of Uranus a couple weeks ago at Meijer marked lower than the price at Bell's.
