One thing I've noticed about PASTE is that they are hardcore homers.

I think Ten Fidy is overrated and overpriced. Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy (more like Twelve Nidy) on the other hand is wonderful.

Pretty much agree on both points. Thought with Ten Fidy, I do really like the beer and mouthfeel and think it's normal ratings are right where they should be, but I agree that you often hear people call it the best non-BA stout, which I don't think it is. Great, sure, but not the best. But to each their own!

Overpriced at 15 bucks a four pack of a 10.5% imperial stout? If it came in bombers like the vast majority of similar stouts at 7.50 each, people would be calling it a steal. You're entitled to your opinion of course as far as the quality/cost ratio since you don't like it, but I'd say it isn't even close to being one of the worst offenders of price gouging for the style.

I'm not the only one who thinks $15-16 for a 4-pack of Ten Fidy is a bit too much. It's pretty simple! Just compare the price to other classic Imperial Stouts (non-barrel aged). The ones in 4-packs are around $9-13 and 6-packs are $9-15. Then you have Lagunitas High Westi-fied Imperial Coffee Stout, which is $12 for a 6-pack of an outstanding barrel-aged Coffee Imperial Stout. And I didn't say anything about price gouging.

Fair enough, I just wish I could find any High Westified in my neck of the woods at all. But yeah, of course you're not the only one, and of course there's some other great stouts that are cheaper. I'm just saying that it's hardly near being one of the worst offenders in this particular category. Either way, the value judgement in the end is subjective depending on enjoyment, so it doesn't really matter all that much.

Saw several cases of West-ified just sitting there $12 a 6-pack with no limit.

    As I posted above:

"I would not be extremely surprised if some BA stated they are 100% opposite here..."

So, needless to say I actually do not agree with you.

    Does that make us 'even'?

Hey, this is a non-barrel aged imperial stout thread! Keep that stuff out! There are 100s of other threads to discuss them.
