My first Pawsox game tonight! Has anyone been to McCoy Stadium this year that can tell me if there are any decent beer options available there? I heard that some sort of Wachusett may be available on draft. I want to know how much pre-gaming might be necessary elsewhere prior to arriving at the game. Thanks.
No clue - I would assume they would at least have Gansett. However, you're a stone's throw away from Doherty's East Ave. Pub for the pre- or post-game. http://dohertys.com/
I know I'm late to this, but I'm a season ticket holder at Pawtucket. Wachusett green monsta is the best thing on tap at the stadium and it's what I get every time. The best place to get beers before and/or after is Doherty's as jwale73 already said. Something like 40 taps there. The founders doubele trouble I had on tap there not long ago was tasting sublime. They list fresh beers as "first chance" and not fresh ones as "last chance" and the IPAs listed under "last chance" should be avoided. Tasty wings there, too.
Gents, I took your advice and went to Dohehrty's- no mean feat with the rash of road detours in the neighborhood. Their 82 (!) taps were not all in good order (beware of multiple pumpkin beers in June) but I found some tasty ones, and their food and the staff was great. Thanks.
It's mostly BMC stuff but they do have a Guinness tap kiosk and there's 'gansett in cans at one station. COuld swear I've seen Smithwicks on draft as well. Wachusett has their highly underappreciated Summer Ale and perfectly adequate Green Monsta IPA at several booths.
Thanks for the intel. I'm headed down there to see Furthur in July and this information is excellent.
Haha!, yeah I forgot about their "pumpkin beer" section. It throws me. I wonder if they're purposely holding on to them from last October just to say "we have Pumpkin beers in summer!" Most of those can't be good still. Otherwise, I like it there.
