I can see going extra distance if you have a place with better service or you're buying something fresh or better kept. I have a grocery that has a great selection and competitive prices, but everything is dusty and not infrequently out of date. So I'll make an extra trip if I have in mind something from the beer aisle. And the time spent going to the better place, I count that as quality time. It's not usually a price thing. Now, that said, I happen to live in Brussels, so there's the added dimension of the tourist/foreigner shop. Some of them have some convenience, but I do avoid them, somehow mindful in that circumstance of the price difference (even though it could be worse, frankly).

$1 is a deal breaker? I'll agree it's already a rip off, but the prices in SEPA were more like $10 a single (1 bottle limit) when I lived there anyway, unless you scored a case, which of course requires a series of blow jobs.

Edit: the fact of the matter is many people are more than willing to pay $7 so your stance on principle will fall on deaf ears anyway.

I can understand turning down KBS if they're trying to charge you $9 or more for a 12oz. bottle, but simply a dollar more is a deal breaker? I'm sorry, but I don't understand that logic. I might even pay $9 for a bottle of fresh KBS, in all honesty.

Time is worth money to me absolutely. I only make a distinction when the dollar amounts get higher, sweating over the difference in bus fare over beer is really stupid pardon my harshness.

Sometimes it just feels good knowing you did the right thing.

It's always worth going to a pub rather that staying at home with bottles and cans. It costs a lot more but its better value nevertheless.
The whole point about money is what it can buy you. That's what it's for. There's also a difference between wasting money (cheap beer) and spending it.

Theres a local bottle shop right beside where I work that has the best selection in town. Breaks up 6pks so u can make your own, imported chocolate (ritter sport anyone?) Good wine and specialty coffee. His prices can bea bit high ($4 a btl for Chillwave?!) But also will get bottles from bridge brew which hes the only place I found that does, provides top level customer, will order anything he can for you and such and such. I love that place so long story short, yes, I will pay a little more than say at the local kroger if it means supporting that ttpe of business.

I feel like that's completely subjective. I'd much rather sit at home and drink beer than go to a pub.

yep. what i have in my beer cellar is exactly what i like to drink. if i go to a bar, i have to pay more, compromise on what i'm drinking, be less comfortable, and have to deal with drunk idiots. plus, i can smoke a cigar at home.

My fridge has what I drink, and only what I drink. I don't have to be subjected to other drunk people, pay an arm and a leg for a pint, etc. Plus, I can wear my Philadelphia Phillies pajama pants, no socks, and there's no one around to judge me for looking like a bum.
