Hey PDX, There never seems to be enough postings for local bottle shares, whether at a residence, bar or bottle shop. Any one have any ideas, upcoming events. My cellar could use some purging!
I'm up for it. Chris from @pdxbottleshare does them monthly but they are VERY popular so they are very crowded. But theres a lot of really good beer. Orenco Taphouse did one a few weeks back but it was me and 2 other guys so that was not great. I could host one at my house for a few people. I live in downtown Hillsboro. I've got a crap ton of beer that I need an excuse to clear out of the cellar.
Dude you have been to mine before! Im just hoping to see more hit the pdx area. I generally have plenty of beer from around America to share and end up drinking it with the rooomates every time. Bottle shares are a fun environment, just want to see more posted on BA
@pdxbottleshare are fun but often people bring local shelf beers, and thats not really a bottle share IMO. We have all had Ninkasi total domination.
Portland has evolved a variety of tasting groups that all start public, and then move into private events. I was in one that started 7 years ago and hasn't done anything public since like 2010. I'd suggest getting a bottle share organized somewhere, do one a month for a year, and then do the same thing with your new gang.
Bottle shares need three things: 1. Organizer 2. Location 3. Date If you feel we're lacking good shares in Portland, then I would start with #1 and proceed down the list. People will come.
I'm in town for the next few days and would love to be apart of a bottle share. Only brought two beers with me this time but guaranteed they are no shelf turds
We're doing one in Seattle in a couple weeks, that grew out of a thread that asked if we had met other BAs. We realized that a bunch of us have been chatting here for years, yet had never met. There's a thread, and any one is welcome to join us!
It'd be cool to get a regular share going for the burbs. I'm in SW (Garden Home) and I have a hard time to convincing friends in NE to even cross the river for a share.
Robert, I started this website after your bottle share. I was going to do something with it but never got around to it. This would be a good place to do at least post news about it. http://westsidebottleshare.blogspot.com/ PM me if you want to help or can host. I just put up a sample post what it could look like
