So I am hosting a peach and apricot sour tasting sometime this summer along with a BBQ. I am hoping that people can give me recommendations on beers that are the highest of quality in terms of peach and apricot sours. I have a ton of items already lined up, but I am looking for recommendations. As an example, I will list the top 10 or so bottles I plan to open for the event so that people can hopefully give me good recommendations and not just MD 20/20 apricot flavor. Here goes:

    - Flaming Fury
    - Persica (batch 1 and hopefully 2)
    - Fou Foune
    - Veritas 010
    - Fantasia (B1 and B2)
    - Peche N Brett (B1 and B2)
    - Bruery Sour in the Rye w/Peaches
    - Sante West Ashley
    - Cisco Peshish Woods
    - Cascade Noyaux and Apricot (both new and vintage)

I have other ideas to add but I wanted to get other BA's opinions before I waste time trying to track down additional bottles for the tasting. Other ideas so far include Upland Peach, Upright Seven w/Apricots (very good), Hanger 24 Chandelle, and other lesser bottles). I am really just looking for 2-3 more that are world class and could stand up to the bottles listed.

    Fire away...

Thanks...that is a good list and should help. Not sure Yellow Bus is worth the hunt but I will give it some thought.

    Is this a Peach beer?

You listed Upland Peach which I certainly think is one worth seeking out! I really enjoyed it myself.

Toss some citric acid in the MD 20/20 then force carbonate and youll be good to go there.

I think you have a damn good list there, I am really not too sure of any others off the top of my head, really just wanted to say that Upland Peach would be worth the effort.

Also, have you guys had most of the bottles you have listed? I would want to know what you consider the best 5 of that list so that I can focus on adding a couple more (not 20 more)...

Seems like we can compare notes afterwards. Looking like late July at this point in the hopes of tracking down the newer Persica upon release.

Lol, I should have clarified. We don't have all these beers, it's just the peach/apricot possibilities list we came up with.

And is this a peach/apricot beer???

    Upright Sole Composition: Cuvee Lactovasilios

I have and have had bottles of that and I didn't taste any peaches or apricots.

    It's "kind-of" a peach beer. Here's the description:

"Cuvee Lactovasilios is a two cask blend made from a Berliner weisse style wort. The brew was fermented directly in several barrels, but this small batch version was done in the ones that previously held the Fantasia, our annual lambic-esque peach beer, and later a round of Five. The fruit originally in the barrel stayed the entire time, becoming a habitat for different yeasts and bacteria, some pitched by us and others coming from the orchard. The fruit also retained some of the Five, which lends this Cuvee a very slight bitterness and hint of saison character. Coupled with the mixed yeast and bacteria barrel fermentation, the finished beer even takes on some Geuze-like qualities and while ready now will certainly mature well for several years."

So it was fermented in old Fantasia barrels, which is a peach-beer. So the peach flavor may be minimal, but it still counts!

We still have a surprisingly good amount from that list, though. And no, no Yellow Bus

tectactoe has quite the list! I was going to recommend a couple of those, but they were already covered!

The Dry Dock Sour Apricot Blonde is pretty tough to come by. It's draft-only and most of the time they only release it for anniversaries and/or GABF week. They have done growlers in the past, so there's a shot someone got a fill of it or hand bottled it during that era. Otherwise, there's still hope they'll end up bottling it once their sour production increases.

Pizza Boy also has an Apricot sour (Permasmile), but it's "on site consumption only" so we didn't even bother to add it to the list.

I have had that in bottle and it is pretty easy to track down last I checked. Are you sure it is not bottled or are we talking about 2 different beers? BA lists one as Paragon Sour Ale and the other as Apricot Blond. The bottle clearly states Apricot Blond however...

Based solely on ratings, these are the 9 bottles I should focus my efforts on adding (if possible):

    - Veritas 040 (4.66)
    - Yellow Bus (4.60) ...probably not going to happen...
    - Jackie O's Cellar Cuvee 6 (4.32)
    - Upright Apricot 7 (4.22)
    - Hanger Barrel Roll #5 - Chandelle (4.16)
    - Lips of Faith Eric's Ale (4.15)
    - Upright BA Five (4.12)
    - Upright Cuvee Lacto (3.99)
    - Upland Peach (3.98)

DONG, and a one-time release. No point in trying to track that down. I would have better luck with Yellow Bus.

It's actually bottled, not draft, but like I said, it's for "on site consumption only" according to their site. A few bottles will "find" their way out, though, and it will slowly crawl up the whale list, much like Black Cherry Bomb.

Different beer. One is their normal Apricot blond. It's in both bottles and cans. The sour version is different. It's much closer to say...New Belgium's Eric's Ale or AC Golden's Apricot. That one hasn't been packaged before.
Right now they do have a normal non-fruit sour called Ambassador that tastes somewhat similar. They made a lot of it, so I bet there are growler fills of that one floating around.
