we narrowed down the area we want to visit. hoping someone can help us with parking suggestions. we’re actually staying in Troutdale so we have to drive in. we are in a Ford F-250. not huge but we’ve come across plenty of parking garages it’s too tall for. hoping someone might know of a public parking lot in the Pearl District. cheers!

Seems like a Google search of "parking lots in downtown Portland" would answer your question far better than anyone on BA can. In any event... The West Side downtown area (where the Pearl is located) is actually fairly small and eminently walkable. Aside from the various parking lots listed in the site above (many of which are open lots, and so no worries about the height of one's truck), there is street parking all over the downtown area. Most of the parking lots and garages listed on the website are within a mile or two of the pearl area, so you have a lot to choose from. Depending on the hour of day, it can of course sometimes be a bit difficult to find nearby street parking, but you can almost always find some lots and garages that will have availability. You may need to walk 5 or 10 minutes to get to your desired destination, but other than that, you really shouldn't have any problem finding a place to park during your visit. Have fun.
thank you for your suggestions. in answer to your question, no, i did not search. your link is a list of parking areas in Portland with addresses. having nvr been to Portland address and street names mean nothing to us. thought asking the question in the appropriate forum might be answered by someone that was familiar with the area. again, thank you for your suggestions.
The link should include a map, along with the addresses. The map should have listed the Pearl District area, and showed (with red dots) the location of the lots and their proximity to the Pearl. Not sure it's possible to give you more information than that. Good luck.
there are surface lots scattered throughout downtown portland, all within easy walking distance of the pearl. the two closest, off the top of my head are SW 9th&washington and NW 5th&couch. the whole foods garage at 13th and couch is quite tall and i doubt you'd have any trouble getting your truck in there, unless it's really huge. i used to park my slightly-lifted landcrusier with a tall roof rack in it frequently with no problem. and like @John_M said, there's lots of street parking, if you have patience.
https://ccplots.myparkingworld.com/...804.250871338.1530164395-864349509.1530164395 City Center Parking owns a lot of garages and lots in the Pearl and downtown (including the Whole Foods garage). If you click on any lots on this map it should tell you the rates and the height restrictions.
@Edie it all depends where would you like to taste some of our great beers, but this is my suggestion: http://explorethepearl.com/place/station-place-parking-garage/ it's close to breweries and quite easy to get in - out of the pearl (NW part of town) and get to (E 84) Troutdale. Cheers and hope to see you around.
Another option would be parking on the east side, right near the Hawthorne bridge and walking over. It's not hard to park on the street for free with the added bonus that it's just a couple blocks from Hair of the Dog (which you can hit up at the end or beginning of your journey). You could do the same for Burnside bridge or Steel bridge.
This is a great excuse to use the street car. While not very efficient for commuting, it's perfect for tourist who want to check out the inner core of the city. Street car bar crawl: Park in the Lloyd Center Mall parking ramp for free (I guarantee your truck will fit), walk 3 blocks west, and get on a northbound street car at 7th and Halsey Get off at Weidler and Ross Walk across the street to Upright. Walk 3/4 of a mile north to Widmer if you want to check them out, otherwise get back on and enjoy a scenic trip across the Broadway bridge. Get off at 10th and Couch in the middle of the Pearl. Check out Deschutes, Von Evert, 10 Barrel, Rogue, Backwoods (if they're open), Baileys, and/or any of the dozens of other bars & restaurants that are within a 5-6 block radius. Hop back on a southbound car and enjoy a scenic trip through the PSU neighborhood, the south waterfront development, and back across the river over the Tillikum Crossing, Portland's newest bridge. Get off on Grand and Morrison This stop puts you within a few blocks of Hair of the Dog, Cascade, Growler Guys, Modern Times, and a bunch of other places to eat and drink, including Katchka, a personal favorite of mine (not much beer, but amazing food and a staggering vodka selection). Hop back on a northbound car, ride to 7th and Halsey, and walk back to your car. There are probably hundreds of other places you could get to within a few blocks of the street car, but those are the highlights. Here's a map of the system. A $5 all day pass will let you hop on & off any bus, MAX train, or street car in town, so if you wanted to take @Joshbiir's advice you could park at the Gresham transit station, ride the Blue Line to the Convention Center MAX station, and then walk a couple blocks east to the street car stop on Grand and Holladay.
oops, hit that return too quick. Is it possible to add this to the Visiting Portland thread, and make it the second entry there? This is permanently useful info.
Agreed. We(I think) can agree that we don't want to be like Texas, where the unofficial state motto is " Come on vacation, Leave on probation". We encourage folks to come and try all our beers, not just the hyped ones, and providing transit options seems a great thought, IMHO.
thanks for the help! we ended up taking the light rail in from Gresham. had a great time and no worries about driving. cheers!
