Curious....does this ever happen? I see other du Ciel beers all the time.

I have not seen Peche Mortel in NC since pre-2011 (I moved out of state and returned in 2013)... There was some amount of time when Shelton Bros was not distributing to NC and I believe they carry Dieu du Ciel, so I'm guessing none came to NC then.

Thanks @dbrauneis. I was wondering if I was just missing it.

I personally have not seen it since Shelton Bros came back into NC but I also know that it comes out several times a year and maybe we just have not gotten it yet. One of my all time favorite stouts.

agreed, every time I see one of their labels in NC, I do a double take to make sure its not Peche Mortel..it never is :slight_frown:

I am almost 100% positive I have seen it in Wilmington in the last few months. Someone did bring one to a bottle share and I'm pretty positive I've seen it on a store shelf here within that time frame.

We saw a few bottles hit Columbia, SC late last year. To my knowledge, that was the first of that in the last 5 years or so.

Just checked Instagram and the bottle shop got it in 21 weeks ago, so probably around the end of September.

I saw Peche Mortel at Sam's in Durham a few months ago for certain and at a few other triangle shops perhaps. It was here.

Hm, I missed it when it was in Columbia, but I found bottles at the market common Pig in Myrtle Beach last week. Before this I honestly thought it wasn't distro'd in the southeast.

Myrtle got Peche Mortel a few months ago, but we've had some of the other beers for a good while.

Sounds like I need to vacation in Myrtle again. It's been a few years.

I must have missed it or they didn't advertise it. I keep a close eye on their updates.

I know a keg has leaked in, but Shelton is super sketch about sending in Dieu du Ciel stuff anymore

Yeah, I have seen bottles at a few places in the Triad recently so we must have gotten a shipment.

The disappearance of Shelton Bros in North Carolina some years back was precipitated by their wise decision to distribute a cache of Westvleteren gift sets through Total Wine, through a distributor other than their regular wholesaler. It was a very comical shit storm only exacerbated by an extremely arrogant blog piece by Dan Shelton and another minion, deriding a set of North Carolina retailers. This "storm" spread across the south and soured some top retailers from ever buying another Shelton product. It interrupted their sales across several states.
I used to break cases of Cantillon and sell them out like rare bottles of wine. Same with Peche Mortel. I've seen grown men nearly piss themselves in frustration and anger over not getting most of it. Thing is, I did the best I could, selling on a system of general support "merit" by customer. Some of these folks who didn't support our efforts generally, were livid to not be offered full cases because of their so called prominence and notoriety. Then these guys would have to deal with the same crap with their customers. I learned very early that beer was going the route of cult wines and it never pleased me and I do not miss that part of the business.

Glad to know this can be found in the Triangle, at least at times. I had a bottle in Montreal last week and it was easily the best beer I had while in Montreal.

Ridgewood had it on tap for a while not too long ago, as well as bottles. Think they’re gone now, but I’m sure they’ll get more next drop.

Just figured I'd mention I saw some bottles in there when I was in this weekend, must've re-upped.
