Greetings all. Any good beer bars or restuarants with good beer within walking distance of the Hilton, that have outdoor seating?
You'll be right at Spruce Street Harbor Park (http://www.delawareriverwaterfront.com/places/spruce-street-harbor-park). There are some options, but not crazy selections. However, the outdoor seating/area is really cool. For bars and restaurants, you'll need to cross over to the Old City side. A lot of good craft beer bars are listed here: http://www.phillytapfinder.com/hood/old-city/ . Revolution House has pretty nice outdoor seating area upstairs. Positano Coast has nice outdoor seating, decent food, but not much in way of beer. Heard Zahav is awesome and it's BYOB. One of the most popular because it's good restaurants is Han Dynasty (http://handynasty.net/). As for bars with usually great selections, I like Khyber Pass, recently named one of the best in America by Esquire (http://www.esquire.com/food-drink/bars/a35124/best-bars-in-america-2015/). Eulogy is just right around the corner from it, which carries a decent bottle list as well.
Going to Foo Fighters July 6th, which is a Monday, spruce st harbor closed I believe. Any opinion on 2nd Story Brewing or Race St Cafe? Ever hit the bar at the Blue Cross roller rink?
I haven't been at the BC roller rink bar so I can't comment. However, I agree with @yobroitsjoe87 the 2nd Story Brewing. It's mediocre at best. Even Triumph, which closed at that exact location was better, IMHO. Race Street Cafe is decent, no outdoor seating except for a couple of tables right at the large opened windows. It's a long walk from the Hilton though.
Just a note, Zahav is awesome, but definitely not BYOB. OP, definitely check out the Khyber (http://www.khyberpasspub.com/).
D'oh...sorry about that! Thanks for the correction. Come to think of it, I even remember seeing their cocktail menu.
I second the recommendations for khyber, imo the best draft list in old city and some delicious food (bbq, po boys, and creole), no outdoor seating though. Eulogy and Bierstube are good options too especially if you are looking for belgian/german beers and bottles, and bierstube has some outdoor seating.
Came across this list of outdoor places: http://www.visitphilly.com/itineraries/philadelphia/the-best-beer-gardens-in-philadelphia/
