I thought it would be cool to have a thread for people who work in the stores to announce themselves and have a better connection to fellow BA's in their area so they can converse on new and limited releases more easily.

My name's Nick, I am the beer manager at Dan's Liquor in Plover WI. Hit me up on here and I can help you get a sought after beer if you are stuck at work when something cool drops. I just thought of doing this after cat grass hit and a lot of people showed up looking for it after work when it sold out.

    Let's build a better infrastructure

To be honest, wouldn't it be better to just trickle out the beer on the shelf throughout the day so everyone had a fair chance instead of holding any back for specific people? I always thought putting little by little out all day would be a good system for tough releases. This way, everyone has a chance of coming across it at some point throughout the day. If you show up when it's not on the shelf, tough lol

That is how my local place does it. They put whatever they want to limit single buyers to at a time, whether it is only a bottle or 2 or a sixer, on the shelf. When a limited release gets to the point of sale, it gets re-stocked on the shelf after that customer pays for it and leaves.I think it is a great way to do things and very fair.

I've benefitted from having store owners put stuff aside for me in the past but frankly don't bother asking anymore. Its only beer and the FOMO has left my building.

That said, I feel like the best way for stores to manage limited releases is to impose reasonable purchase limits. I mean, if a store gets a single case or two its seems more equitable to impose a one, maybe two, bottle limit. Geography plays a big role in where I shop and it just so happens that the store I visit most frequently will not set aside beer for anyone. They do, however impose vigorous limits which means I can, 9 times out of 10, stop there on the way home and get a new release. They price reasonably as well so they have gained my loyalty.
