Hey Ptown people, I am going to be in town most of the week leading up to the beer fest on April 20th. I know in years past there have been various beer events around town during that week. Is there anything going on this year? I have been watching the forum but havent seen a mention of anything. Is Kelleher's or Old Chicago (or both) doing a night of the barrels? Let me know if you have heard anything.
Haven't heard anything definite yet. I talked to Billy at Kellehers last month and he said that he's working on pulling NotB together but I don't know anything about Old Chicago.
I know that Old Chicago has an event on Thursday for O'Fallon but I think that is all that is going on this year. Unfortunately I am no longer with the distributor who usually organizes the Night of the Barrels so I think that event kind of fell through the cracks this year. There was talk of an event about a month ago but I don't know if anything was ever finalized. Maybe next year one of the other distributors will pick up the event
I just talked to Billy. Looks like there won't be an official Night of the Barrels but he is going to put a bunch of new taps on starting Thursday night. A couple of Hoppin' Frogs, GI Big John, Ballast Point Dorado and Flying Dog Pumpernickel IPA. I'll post more when I find out about them.
What kind of O'Fallon event at Old Chicago? A tap takeover perhaps? Also, I'll be intersted to see what both Old Chicago and Kellehers do have planned.
Actually, I just got an email from Old Chicago. Yup. He didn't tell me a specific time but I'm betting they'll be up and pouring by 6pm if not sooner. Also he's putting on Goose Island's Big John.
