I'm a big fan of the peppery notes that can be found in some Nelson or Pacific Jade brews and was hoping to find more of this style. Rye is always nice, but I am hoping to find more of the spice come from the hops themselves.

    Any favorites?

Schlafly Tasmanian IPA and Oskar Blues IPA did this for me. I find that Australian hop varieties are very earthy and "dirty" with said pepper. River Horse IPA is another but i dont think youd find that in colorado

This might seem abundantly obvious, but Foothills Jade is a good choice for that sort of thing.

Although not an IPA, Ballast Point Grunion pale ale hits all those notes for me.

It's certainly a wonderful beer, and one of the more peppery IPAs I've had. I'd love to find more beers with Pacific Jade playing center stage.

Not sure if it is exactly the same profile you are looking for but a Rye IPA should fit the bill.

That is true and why I mentioned it in the original post

Other half Simcoe... or Heady (if you can get that)....those would be the top peppery ones I've had lately....

I've never gotten pepper in Heady, but I'll keep that in mind next time.

    ISO Other Half Simcoe

I loved Wolf Picker from Odell featuring HBC #472, but I heard they have sole rights to that hop at the moment.

Abita - Jockamo IPA was the most peppery IPA I have ever had

I always thought Smuttynose Finest Kind had a distinct white pepper edge.

Mosaic hops come out very peppery sometimes. So look out for those.

"Ruthless Rye" by Sierra Nevada. Unfortunately you can't get it until the Spring but with the way beer is becoming like regular retail, product available three months ahead of the season, you should be able to get it soon.

I fully recognize you are inquiring about peppery IPAs but please hear me out?

Do you like Saisons? A number of Saisons have a noticeable black pepper spice flavor from the Saison yeast strain used to make the beer.

Just throwing it out there for your consideration.

    Cheers!

I do love saisons and have had some nice peppercorn ones as well. Always open to other options, so thanks!
