So a couple buddies and i recently started brewing and one of our goals is to create that perfect light beer or LBDR (light beer done right) that we can drink duriing the summer. we've come up with a pretty nice cerveza but we are trying to figure out a perfect bud light/coors light alternative. light, but full of flavor...anybody have a recipe they are willing to share?

Add a few hop pellets to a cold Bud Light.

Joking aside, I recently learned this a good way to become more familiar with different hop varieties.

There are tons of awesome lighter styles that you guys can make, and are perfect for the summer. No need to make a clone of a crappy beer...

Guinness is the perfect light beer (only 15 calories more than Bud Light!)

i guess i should have worded that better. im not looking to clone a bud/coors. i'm looking for something to make that could replace it at the lake or cookout

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f66/centennial-blonde-simple-4-all-grain-5-10-gall-42841/ I've brewed this recipe myself. Do not change a thing. It's a perfect light beer. If you brew extract, there's a conversion somewhere in the first 1-3 pages of the thread.

You might get better ideas posting this in the Homebrew section of the forums.

Style wise, I would recommend Hefe, Saison, American Pale Ale, Kolsch, etc. I have always purchased recipe kits from Austin Homebrew, who will ship nationwide I believe.

How about a Kolsch? Don't have a recipe for ya, though, sorry.
