So the Perfect Pour is having their growler event kick off today. Anyone going? The empty growler prices seem decent; 32 oz. Empty Growler: $3.99 each 64 oz. Any change in that since the new owners took over? Someone in a previous thread mentioned that the new owners were aware of the negative perception a lot of people had about the pricing there, and that they hoped to change that.
I wasn't aware of that but I'm not so sure its happened yet. I went in a few weeks ago and they had Elysian's Pumpkin Patch Box at $40.00. Every other place had it at $30.00. Total at $27. Thats a huge difference.
Sigh... that sound like typical PP pricing to me as well. 10% to 20% higher over most places in town has always been their general practice, unless they think they've cornered the market on something rare (or are convinced that they're the only store around that has any left), and then the skies the limit. 50% or more over MSRP is not atypical for the PP in such siutaitons.
Its really unfortunate. I love going to PP to browse their awesome selection but I get so turned off by their prices. The staff I've encountered is always very helpful. What I did buy from PP was some Heavy Seas Greater Pumpkin. It was priced normal and my usual place didn't get it.
Perfect Pour is still overpriced on perceived "special beers", however they have fixed most of the singles (12oz) pricing to a much more "in-line" standard. Even give an extra 10% off on a mix n match 6 pack. So that is definitely better, special beers not so much.
Update--Can only get 32 oz growler of Pumpkin Retribution. $25. Actually a good deal since 22ozs is $30 there. I will say this--I had this beer on Saturday. It was awesome! Anyway...
I picked up a 32 oz growler of the DuClaw Pumpkin Retribution for the above mentioned $25.00 (which as stated above is a LOT better than $30 for a 22 oz bomber) and a 32 oz growler of the Evil Twin Biscotti Break Stout for $20.00. I got there at about 4:15 this afternoon, about 15 minutes after they opened the taps, and there was already a line, a short line, but a line. Cool thing is that they were also pouring tasters before you purchased to make sure that you like the beer. I was tempted to also get a 32 oz growler of Fisherman's Pumpkin Stout as well. maybe this weekend... According to the print out of their tap list, some of the beers they have on deck are: Brewfest Spaceman IPA Het Nest Dead Man's Hand Blond & Bitter Friestone Walker Double Jack Struise Pannepeut Quad Union Royal Farmhouse Double IPA Burley Oak Aboriginal Gangster DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus B. Nektar Zombi Killer
