Just finished talking with Perlick. The 525ss is now replaced with the 630ss. They said they would swap out the faucets, even though I didn't buy it directly from them. They just need some info from the Beverage Factory order. So I just talked to the Beverage Factory, and they said that they would most likely just do the swap themselves and will call me back tomorrow about details. Either way, I get the newly designed faucet.

The only bummer? I'm supposed to pick up my next keg of Sam Adams up tonight or tomorrow, but I have to go buy some bottled beer to hold me over until I get the new faucet. Both Perlick & the Beverage Factory were very nice to deal with. By the way, the 525ss replacement parts were much cheaper on Perlick's website then the Keg Outlet one. I was surprised at that.

Why not use the old faucet?

It's academic at this point, but, on my Ventmatics (and also on my old generic rear-seal faucets, as I recall), the bonnet can be tightened sufficiently to stop the handle from moving entirely. In that sense, the firmness of the handle is adjustable.

I'll take the faucet apart when I get home later now that I'm going to return it anyways. Might as well practice on that one instead of the new one!!

I didn't want to tighten the bonnet up too much, it seemed fairly tight and I was still getting play with the lever. Guess I will put the old faucet back on til I get the new one.

Two caveats when disassembling a faucet. 1) the small parts can easily get away from you, and 2) pay attention to how everything fits together so you can reassemble it. Depending on the faucet, some of the parts may look similar enough to swap - that doesn't mean they are.

Beverage Factory is sending me the new 630ss, no cost. Nice to know that both BF & Perlick haveproved execellent customer service, with both sying theywould replace at no cost. Looks like I may have bought the very lat 525ss from BF stock (non-brass).

Finally got a chance to check out new Perlick 630SS faucet, with longer beer line (10 ft) installed. Dam flu is killer (And I got a flu shot!).

Just as Doug predicted, perfect pours. Absolutely perfect. I had 5 ft of beer line in that came with the kegerator setup. 5 ft was just too short. The extra length slowed down the flow of beer to where I can easily set the co2 pressure at 12 psi and not cause any excessive foam. At 38 degrees, with Sam Adams Summer Ale, I am set.

And the 630ss faucet did not have the loose play that the 525ss had. Definitely different. Not sure is the 525ss would have leaked since I never used it. Beverage Factory sent me the 630ss at no charge. They've been great to deal with. I never got around to taking apart the 525ss since I was down with the flu. Just returned it.
