I'm in the process of buying the pieces to build a jockey box. I have the chill plate and I just recently got a box of old used sankeys off of ebay for dirt cheap (described "as is" and "for parts"). I was figuring that I would be able to piece together the couplers I needed out of all the parts, but was surprised to find 5 of these Perlick MK-1 couplers which appear to be in working order and not missing any parts. I got around to testing 2 of them and those 2 did work.

Does anyone know anything about these or have any documentation? I'd like to take them apart and clean them, but they seem to be built a bit different than a Micromatic coupler. I contacted Perlick and they weren't any help.

    Thanks

Looks to me like the ball valve on top is an add on, that should unscrew which should show you the top of the retainer that holds the ball in, if the retainer and ball are still there. You should be able to get a brush through from the keg side, up through where the retainer is/was. The thumb screw allows you to remove the lever. The black gasket on the gas in should come right out also.
