Anybody try these yet? One is a RIS and the other is a barleywine, both aged in Van Winkle Family Reserve barrels. Hoping someone else will be the guinea pig before I shell out 15.99/bottle.

Hard to tell from the photo, are these 12oz or 22oz bottles?

That barleywine is right up my alley. Looks like I have another stop to make in GR on my great trek north today.

    I'm hearing from @core42 and others that it's so-so.

Hmmm. May not need to add another stop. $16 for a 22oz gamble is a little much for me. I could grab more Quadwood though...

Agreed, it's tough to pull the trigger on a $16+ bottle, especially with the Bourbon county/oddside releases on our doorstep at lower prices. Was surprised it took this long for a thread to pop up for these beers though. I did read somewhere that these will be released at some Meijer locations for sale. Might be cheaper there too.

RIS is still pretty hot, may need to set a few months. These are both barrel forward beers for sure! I liked it enough to by two of each, but I would't feel pressured to pull the trigger...this one is getting distributed around MI.

Is this the first time that Perrin has bottled anything? This is new news to me. Maybe I need to friend them on fb. As good as all of their other stuff is, these likely would be quality beers too.

Only their Quadwood has been bottled so far. Still waiting on those bad ass churchkey opener cans.

Quadwood, Dr. Lacto, Kill em All, and With Kindness have all been bottled.

As @mayra said those 4 are bottled and available as of noon today.
Kill Em All I thought was bourbon forward but not super hot, the base beer seems to get lost in this beer.
With Kindness was better & while bourbon forward, the base beer seems to work better with the bourbon imo.
If you can get there they have malted milk ball on tap & according to some workers there, it should be on tap for about another week or so

Is it me or is the "killing craft series" a little arrogant for a brewery two years old? And yes, I've read the press release behind the name.

Thanks for the heads up on MMB. I'm taking some buddies to Perrin's at 11:00AM sharp on Friday. I got my fingers crossed they still have some of their new bottles available. And I very much look forward to some MMB once again.

Tried both of these at the brewery today. I was really impressed with the Kill Em All (RIS). It was smooth, really nice flavors, maybe a bit thin. The With Kindness was a bit more hot, sharp flavors, a lot of toffee/caramel and an oaky finish. I bought a bottle of the Kill Em All. I think with a little bit of age these will both be better but I'm definitely pleased with my purchase.

And I do think the "Killing Craft" idea is a little much even though I like the beer names.

Tuesday night I had With Kindness and last night I split Kill 'em All with the wife. I found WK to be thin, lacking any carmel and malt that a traditional BW would have. It was almost very basic/simple cold. Once it warmed up the barrel started to come out and the flavors developed better, still it wasn't what I hoped it to be which was more on par with something like Sweet Repute. I rated it 4 and that was probably generous. I bought 2 and probably won't get another bottle.
Kill 'em All was good, again thin bodied and nowhere near some of the comparisons that I've heard. One of my best buddies compared it to Black Note which is so far off I think he must have been drunk:slight_smile: It did have more barrel notes than WK and had better overall flavors and mouth feel. Probably won't be getting another bottle of this either with the Odd Side releases this Friday and 4 elf around the corner. Hope this helps.

I like that OddSide does 12oz. of special releases. I can take a chance on them and not really be disappointed if I don't like it. Having said that, I sure wish more Hipster Brunch and Imperial BBMM had made it to distribution., they kicked ass this year.

Call OddSide to see if they have any more Hipster. Someone mentioned on another thread that they still have some.

I was really hoping these would get better reviews based on description/price/waxtop, hard to spend a bunch of money on beer that is meh when there are so many BA beers coming out right now. Malted milk ball is prob the best beer I've had from them- wasn't impressed with the quad/hop/stout/redwood series. Perrin makes solid beers but have yet to wow me on anything.

Totally agree, I planned on buying about 6 sets but after trying it on tap, I ended up with 3 sets instead
