Called both the ones on Main Street, like the post said. One didn't sell alcohol. The other one said they were sold out. :slight_frown:

When I talked to my local store they said they ordered "as much as we could". This may not be the distributors fault and maybe the other stores just ordered a case or two not really knowing it would be "that" good. You should ask your local if they tired to order more and got cut instead of assuming they got allocated. Maybe they did...just sayin.

I think some stores may have been scared to order to much due to kill em all and kind ness being kind of lame ducks.

I'm not completely clear on what you mean by getting cut vs. getting allocated. But every store I spoke to in the Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Canton area said they tried to get as much as possible.

I certainly don't work in the industry, but it was my understanding that typically beers that don't have enough supply to meet the number of orders placed for it are allocated in some manner. What that manner might be--sales of Perrin beers based, account based, geographically based, etc--I have no idea.

Honestly, I'm not even trying to point any fingers, as I don't know enough about the supply chain to have an informed opinion. Mostly just pointing out that however they disseminated No Rules across Michigan, there seems to be a disconnect between where the beer was sent and where the customers who want the beer reside.

I'm guessing the West Michigan distributor got as much as all others combined. Since the West Mich stores actually put it out before the release at the brewery, they probably had to order it and they got everything they ordered. I'm guessing this because I know of a bigger shop that got a second order they were not planning on, making me think the distributor did not get rid of their full allocation on initial orders and rewarded their bigger stores with what was left.

If the other distributors received a lot smaller allocation from Perrin, it makes sense they couldn't fill orders and allocated.
This makes sense for a smaller brewery just starting to bottle/can, allocate heavy locally first. Now that they are starting to distribute their regular stuff we will see how much the East side drinks since that may determine future allocations of the bigger beers.

We can always trade for some Kuhnhenn though:wink:

I suppose that means I'll have to get my ass over there for the next bottle release (which I think may be this coming Sunday).

Of course, I'll go pick up a growler/howler fill of anything you want on tap lol.

If you are talking about Kuhnhenn, I'm pretty sure it's Saturday.

Yeah, that's what I meant to say. I even double-checked what I wrote and my brain somehow interpreted my post as the written word "Saturday".

There hasn't been a whole lot of pub about this release, just a tweet and an event on the Kuhnhenn FB page. I'm hoping it will be somewhat chill, as Mrs. LP is on call Saturday, so I'll be in charge of our 19-mo. old. Luckily, it's not a bad drive if we get there and it's a shitshow.

I'm having a hard time choosing between the Short's release and the Kuhnhenn release this Saturday... Kuhnhenn is closer, but I still have a few bottles of Cherry Oud Bruin left from 2013. I noticed that this batch of Cherry Oud Bruin is 10.5%, while the 2013 is 12.75%.

Odd Side is also releasing Nihilist the same day. I'm assuming that'll see some distro though.

That drive for 3 bottles is tough to swallow. Paying almost double for the beer due to gas costs.
Plus, Cherry Oud Bruin is awesome.
