i don't know if it gets that deep. If we're getting into the hypotheticals behind why a shitshow happened, with those two examples, it's probably good to factor in a major release that was happening simultaneously with the no limit Hipster release; the almighty yearly clusterfuck known as BCBS.

Was it solely responsible for everyone in the Hipster line being able to get something? Maybe not but my bets are it had a greater influence in sidetracking potential line-goers and new money beer budgets than the psychological aspect behind doing a limit or enforcing one.

They advertised notes of cinnamon as being a part of the experience. From Perrin's Brewer Blog last year:

"Tuesday 5/12 - No Rules. Sometimes John goes a little crazy and he makes a 15% porter with coconut and cinnamon."

hmmmmm......well perhaps I should seek out some other cinnamon beers, but really didn't feel that came through in last years batch. And hope nothing changes this year.

This got decent distro, but I think it was under the radar. My local store had it, it lasted the weekend with a one bottle limit, and then made it to have the limit released.

This was in Lansing where limited releases are selling out before noon now.

Still sitting on one, don't know if I'll be able to grab some this time.

    Anyone drink a bottle recently?

I guess I should say that even though I bash this one, I feel like I want to get another bottle or two to age.

That was me that posted that & while that was an Oddside employees initial thought, it should be noted that there were ~200 less cases of Hazel's vs Hipster. It will be interesting to hear how many cases will be available

I really hope quite a bit hits distro, don't think I can make the release.

core, you beat me to the punch with your comment. It really isn't a true apples to apples comparison between the Hazel's Nuts release and Hipster release. I hadn't heard of a case number for Hipster but it was clear they had much more of it than Hazel's (I was actually guessing more then 1,000 for Hipster). I've seen several comments in the last month or so suggesting that the 5 case limit on Hazel's resulted in most people purchasing the maximum 5 cases. I believe everyone was purchasing 5 cases because it is an epic beer.

Anyway, just my opinion, I got to believe Perrin's has plenty of No Rules if they are already planning to ship it out for distribution.

It was ~800 cases of Hipster. This was on their facebook page, and Josh may have even posted that on these forums.

Also factor in that hipster came out on the same day as another major beer release day, to which people might have been chasing that...

    Yep and ~600 for Hazel's.
I hope Oddside does a limit on the next barrel aged release, I personally think 2 or 3 cases would be a sweet spot for selling out on release day but having enough for everyone in line.

I'm in California so I won't be making the No Rules release but have a friend that will try to make it; I'm already anticipating that she strikes out with no limit in effect

Does anyone know this? Same amount hitting distro this time? It was getable last time but not sure if they are selling as much as they can at the brewery and will distro the rest or have already allotted for each. If selling as much at brewery as possible everyone should get some, if not...shit show.

I'm hoping it hits distro since I can't make it but wondering if anyone has any knowledge besides a guess.

With all the hype behind this now, even if it follows the same distro amount as last year, it won't be anywhere near as attainable.

My guess is that they have a certain amount allocated for the release and the rest pre-determined to go to distro. This is just based on some places around me resolved to the fact that they'd be getting some. But as @red94tt points out, this isn't going to sit on shelves like it did last time. People understand now that it is a notch (or two) above With Kindness, Kill 'Em All, and Lil' Griz.

I believe that it was distro'd last time also even though it sold out at the brewery for both releases
