In Perth at the moment. Didn't even know about be beer week. Haven't lived here for 5 years and things have changed dramatically on the beer scene. Heading down to Margaret River , but back monday to wed next week. What are some of the must do's ? Going to feral at a minimum, and will check out Sail. Cheers.
So lucky to get beer week, just check beer week site and all will be before you. Like you said so much has changed , for the better ! Try Homestead brewery if you like the valley and an upmarket venue, beer is reasonable. Check out Nick at Eagle Bay Brewery, good brewer. Feral is always good beer wise. Nev
Great to see you back over here! Let me know if you are back over this side of the country. I'd give Fremantle a miss if you are strapped for time. Sail & Anchor is a far cry from its best days. The Monk, across the street, is a better option. Little Creatures may have 1 seasonal on, but otherwise they seem to just pour their standard range of beers. Check out the Dutch Trading Company or DTC. 243 Albany Highway, Victoria Park. Also, Petition on the corner of Barrack Street and St George's Terrace in the city, has just opened up. Bob's Bar in top floor of Print Hall (125 St George's Terrace) can have some good taps.
Welcome back. You still based in Canada? Your timing is excellent with the recent openings of Dutch Trading Co and Petition. I and many others on here can attest to Dutch Trading Co being fantastic. Early reports on Petition are positive. If you're heading out to Feral I'd also recommend dropping in to Homestead. It's a very impressive space.
To be honest, I'm not sure I would bother with the Sail and anchor anymore, its pretty average, and the stuff you'll get at the other venues mentioned make it look worse, and the pricing seemed insane last time I went in there, 23$ for a pint of deschutes? If you are near freo, then Strange Company and the Norfolk ,and freo Clancy's are worth a look, also if you can handle beards a plenty and star wars memes, you should check out The Monk, or Monk, or what ever its called this week
Thanks for the tips everyone . Some things like Homestead were completely off my radar. Enjoyed the Dutch Trading Co last night, used to live only a few blocks from there, would have been dangerous to still live there. Everything on tap there for me was new. I'm still based in Vancouver , Canada. Great beer scene which has exploded over the last few years. This trip has been a bit last minute, but hoping to get some time in Sydney late in the month, and will give the Sydney crew a yell if time permits.
Shame I am leaving before Tusk day. Did Feral yesterday and had a great time, great beers and good variety. Homestead was OK, nice surroundings, a couple of beers had diacetyl issues.
Yep, Homestead has the best brewing kit probably in Australia (Schulz). Beers could be so much better - seems like they are just in it to make money. No character in the joint.
