I'm not sure if anyone else read's the MMQB, but Peter King always includes a tidbit on a good beer he drank that week. His taste is usually pretty decent, sticking to the bigger craft brands and easily accessible beers. But he also will find interesting brewpbus, particularly during the preseason or when traveling to smaller markets. But this week, I can't even comprehend his comments:

Beernerdness: Found a poor man’s Pliny The Elder in a west side bar in Manhattan on Saturday: Harpoon 100 Barrel series #51, Cambridge Uncommon Pale Lager. The name is long. The beer is worth it. It’s a cool beer—as the name implies, a combination of IPA with lager, leaving a bit of pine taste on the pallet.

How poor of a man are we talking about?

I have a hard time taking him seriously after some of the Ray Rice/NFL ass covering articles he wrote. His taste in beer is even worse than his writing.

I had Cambridge Uncommon this weekend at the brewery. I have had Pliny. It is no Pliny.

Had it on tap myself. I enjoyed it. Made a sweeter version of Hoponius Union remark to my wife. Pliny never crossed my mind.

And I'm also calling BS on his recent treadmill times. If you've ever seen Peter King, you'd also doubt that the man can run 5 miles at an 8 min pace.
