Signed. Won't be hard to get the 1,000 needed signatures, having it not getting thrown out is the tough part.

Actually raises it from 12 - 21 I think? We can live with that.

I'd like to try to get a listing around of beers Ohio could possibly see if this went through. I think people freak out about this but it they were shown some solid info regarding pricing/availability/etc compared to wines and liquor, we might actually be able to sway some people for support. Here's a list to get us started. Please add/correct as you see fit. Please keep in mind pricing should reflect quote/unquote "normal' retail pricing. The spreadsheet can be found HERE

I'm also willing to start an information website and engage Ohio breweries and public officials if I can find a small group of people interested in the same.

How do I edit your spreadsheet? It appears to be read-only for me.

Unsigned it. That means less bcbs around Chicago. Just kidding . Hope this goes through. Death to outdated beer laws!

There are 25 beers on the Top 250 list alone that are over 12%. I'm not sure if they would be distributed to OH anyway, but that at least would give the breweries the option! Add them to the spreadsheet!

Interesting. I personally don't see a reason to add beers we wouldn't get for lack of distro but I'm open to convesation as there is potential value in seeing that many highly rated 12+ beers. Maybe do a top ranked 12+ beers on one list and a potential OH disto list on another? Good idea - bad idea? By all means chime in as this is a place for info/suggestions from the community. Does anyone know the guy who started the change.org petition?

Here's my two cents, take it for whatever it's worth...

Petitions and spreadsheets, even with the best of intentions, won't change a damn thing.

If you're a passionate beer fan, the best thing you can do right now is to engage BUSINESS OWNERS near you to get involved. The only way this will pass is if the state representatives can be convinced the rewards economically outweigh the risks (their underlying fear is societal damage due to underage or college binge drinkers --- producing a list of a myriad of new high ABV products could actually backfire here).

Talk to your local brewery, bottle shop owner or distributor and ask them to reach out to Senator Ramos. That will do so much more than making a list or typing your name into a web page.

Yeah, it would be really nice if Hoppin' Frog/Great Lakes/Columbus or whoever could say something like, "We're really struggling to compete with out-of-state breweries because we can't brew high ABV beers that craft beer drinkers are increasingly looking for. Only if we could sell them in state would it be economically feasible to brew them."

Would be interesting to know what OH brewers actually think about the cap - have any of them spoken about it?
