    Oh, new petrus beer.
Oh, back says tart cherry, Yum!
Oh, this smells like artificial cherry
Oh, this tastes like artificially sweetened cherry beer
    Drain pour.

FYI for everyone out there. Don't be duped like I was.

I liked this. Sorry but it tasted like real unsweetened cherries. It was a repeat buy.

My first drain pour. I went back and bought two more however. No doubt they will be safe in the cellar for many years.

You never know... 9, 10 years the gummi cherry fruit slice / medicinal taste could be gone.

    Yeah, no thanks.

If only you people reviewed this... I would be $4 richer. Lol.

Actually smells like Hi-C Punch (Oh Yeah!). But was not a drain pour for me. A little sweet. Needs more sour to create a better balance. Will aging fix it?

I hope... or make your own blend with some aged pale.

Too sweet, not good. I had my first Petrus Aged Pale recently so expectations were high. And not met.

Aged Pale so good! Haven't had another worth drinking from Petrus. Won't be buying this one, thanks for the warning.

I had it last night, and it definitely wasn't what I expected. What's the story behind this? I figured Aged Pale with Cherries, but clearly I was wrong.

I dug it, too, though it was way sweeter than I'd expected.

Probably not. I bet it's pasteurized.

Had a taster at the bottle shop. I think the beer would be enjoyable in a small pour with dessert, but not one I'd reach for otherwise. It's similar to Founders Cerise.

    Tastes like cherry cough drops.

Kudos to you for buying and storing them in a cellar to protect others from this imminent threat!

Not sure what you were looking for in this beer but I think it does a remarkable job in highlighting the fruit and balance. Sure, it is not Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek or something like that but it is what it is.

In the line of Lindemans Framboise, Kasteel Rouge and others, the Petrus Aged Red is pretty good, less sweet and shows good fruit character.

As for the 'artificial' comments, I definitely do not get it. And does not much of belgian beer have sugar added?

Anyway, not a regular drinker and I can only drink small pours of styles like these but plenty of people love this beer.

I liked it, but the only place I've seen it thus far was a very over-priced restaurant in DC. If I see it in a shop I'm going to try a petrus pale/red blend.

Well, usually when sugar is added to a beer, it almost completely ferments out. However, in the case of beers like Lindeman's regular line of lambics, they pasteurize the beer, which kills the yeast, then they add sugar to sweeten it. From the sounds of people talking about how sweet it is, that may be the case here.
