Phase Three Brewing (2019)

Had both of them. Honestly:
marmalade is above average, solid IPA but nothing to die for.
Protocol is rough, doesn’t taste like a DIPA and overall is just weak, would recommend most shelf beers at binnys.

Overall it’s their first go so I won’t put too much stock into it, but I can’t help but think they rushed this one. I’ll be optimistic about future offerings but haven’t been sucked in like I have with hop butcher yet

 

Marmalade tastes like Green Moss to me. Perhaps just my palate. However I really enjoyed Green Moss, one of my favorite Hop Butcher brews.

 

Got Phase Three added, review away!

While they didn’t knock it out of the park, it was a solid first run.

I can’t wait for Phase Four!

 

I had full pours of Protocol and Marmalade at the Open Bottle event yesterday. Both beers totally burned my throat while drinking them. I've never experienced hop burn to this degree before. I can tell that there are two great IPA'S hiding behind that hop burn, so I'm going to sit on my cans for a week or two before drinking.

Had a can of Marmalade last night. It was decent, but nothing special. Having Protocol now and it’s not as good. I get malt and onions. I got slight burn from Marmalade but not really anything like that from Protocol.

 

Marmalade is pretty damn tasty.

 

We've laughed together. We've cried together. We've even gotten hop burn together. It's been a heck of a month for this thread but I really think its best days are yet to come. Sure, we've finally got the first haze but the stout release? Still to come. And the requisite BA release in 8-12 months' time? Oh, yeah. As a wise man said, sit back, relax and strap it down.

 

I rated Marmalade higher as well, Protocol was a below average Double IPA for me. I typically don't seek out NE IPAs, but thought Marmalade was a solid offering.

Looking forward to trying others down the road, but likely won't get any with the hype and limited release count until they expand operations.

 

Keep these reviews coming. I scored marmalade but was a person or two late for protocol (which is silly. The whole thing is silly.). Posts like these will turn my FOMO into RSW (retroactively savoring wisdom).

 

I shotgunned all 4 of my Protocol this weekend and they were the best beers I’ve ever had. You totally missed out. Stop walking around Lincoln Ave next release and get the beer that you know is rightfully yours.

Yikes that sucks. Not sure if I was Orange and Brew I would publicly disclose an insufficient camera system and a lack of a secured stock room.

 

Had pours of both at the Open Bottle event Friday and bought a mixed 4 pack for later consumption.

I don't have much to add since I am going to just be confirming what others posted, but, I got quite a bit of burn from both. You can definitely taste that Marmalade has a delicious hop profile so I am excited to get back into those next week. Protocol was ok but I have had 20 beers like it before.

 

How would you know they don't? Could easily have been secured but then broken into

 

Never been to Orange & Brews so I don’t know their setup, but maybe there’s a door to the back/outside that was left unlocked? I’m guessing the asshat didn’t walk back onto the main floor & out their front door carrying the 2 cases....

 

Well if they stoled 2 cases of Protocol I’m sure it might be the last time they steal Phase Three beer.
