Just a touch to much cinnamon for my liking but still enjoyed, have another bottle sitting as well. Everybody I shared the first bottle with thought it was executed nicely.

By definition isn't a milk stout an adjunct stout? Kind of like saying an adjunct free cinnamon-coconut stout.

That's a no from me. To my knowledge, the lactose used in milk stouts are just for the desired body, and sweetness of the stout. Much like when oatmeal stouts specifically use that ingredient to direct the body of the beer in a slightly different direction.

Adjuncts, to me, are specifically used to direct the flavor of the beer, instead of the desired body.

I could be wrong. I probably am.

"Technically" it is an adjunct, as its not one of the four main ingredients for beer. The same way using corn or rice defines an adjunct lager. But I do agree most of us wouldn't really consider it an adjunct in the same vein as what brewers are using these days.

That's fair. There's a rabbit hole we can all go down discussing what an "adjunct" really is nowadays. I guess I'll stay in the lane of: using lactose to create a milk stout doesn't qualify.

Either way, until I run for official Adjunct Advocate, I won't lose sleep over it haha.

To go further, technically, it is a source of fermentable sugars from sources other than malt. So belgian candi sugar, fruit, lactose, marshmallow, etc. are all adjuncts and cinnamon, vanilla and coffee and the like are more flavoring additives.
But in this day and age, calling it all "adjuncts" is more the norm than the technical terms.

The resin character of that initial bite is gone. It’s just a pleasant pop of bitterness now. This is the best beer I’ve had from a phase three label. It’s got that “beginning, middle, end” concept going for it. We talked about that a lot years ago in the hazy thread, but it hasn’t been brought up recently. Beginning is nice aroma and pop of bitterness to the tongue, it transitions into big hop flavor, then a definitive finish that doesn’t allow the beer to linger too long. That type of finish ups the drinkability big time.

This feels TH Alter Ego esque.

Yeah not sure how many spots there will be. Seems similar to Side Projects LC situation so maybe ~100-200 to start, but probably less. Fingers crossed

It was amusing watching a few friends talk themselves out of even trying to get a slot. "But LZ is so far away...."

Love the flipperz get shanked part of the rules!
