Having my first can now. Its definitely back to batch 1 level, pours much more clean and golden than batch 2. Less malt and sugar forward as well. It still has that creamy mouthfeel that truly separates it from the true dry, west coast style, but its a very good midwest IPA.

Having a Terrazzo as well. While most definitely less boozy syrup than the last release, I'm still finding it heavier than the initial release. Feel this is a solid middle ground between the two and most definitely not a WCIPA and belongs firmly in the drinkable MWIPA space.

I’d love to try Terrazzo side-by-side to a few West Coast double IPA staples before I agree that it’s not dry enough to be considered West Cost.

It’s my first time trying it, but I am not digging the latest batch of Pixel Density. It seems very sweet and kinda chalky. Is this typical? Are others experiencing this? Plus, this is one ugly a** beer. It freaking looks like murky chicken broth. Tempted to throw some corn starch in here and make some gravy.

Side by side with Pliny, it’s way softer and quite a bit sweeter. It’s not even close from that aspect.

Yeah, I love Pliny. It’s a phenomenal beer that I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy many times. It might be the best but to me that’s not a WC “staple”. It’s fairly limited and many came before it. So I’m kinda lost on the whole “if it’s not like Pliny it’s not considered a WCDIPA” thing.

I get your point about comparing it to Pliny specifically as a WC IPA, and that’s valid. But WCs typically have a less residual sugar compared to Midwest IPAs, leading to a drier and lighter mouthfeel. And that really is my point. Terrazzo by far creamier, more full bodied, and sweeter than typical WC comparables.

It's more like a Watermelon-ish Sweetart. You can tell there's something else in here, but watermelon is the dominant flavor. Probably my favorite Double Nectar so far.

I get not wanting to drive that far for a beer. But hey, you made it all the way out here for that Affy Tapple beer...this one is a million times more enjoyable.

Yeah I hear ya but I guess I’m just not getting all of the creaminess you’re getting in the two cans I’ve had so far. I feel like Enjoy by 10-31 was creamier. That’s probably the last WC double I’ve had. Going to look for some singles this weekend to check out. They still make Ruination? Racer X I used to like. Torpedo/Hop Bullet, Port Mongo I used to drink a lot. Time to revisit some beers and I’ll report back.

I honestly wondered if Ruination was still around as I haven’t seen it in a while (but can’t say I’ve been looking). It used to be one of those that sat on the shelf and was rarely fresh, so I stopped buying years ago. But now you’ve got me in the mood for one.

I haven't been over there to talk to anyone, but I would imagine if it gets approved, that's when they'll open up Ambassador memberships. It would be a nice boost to pay for the capital to get it up and running.

If they have enough stock sitting in barrels, then they may have enough to offer to new members. Or they could always package in smaller formats as well.

Who knows, but they have been working on the front area and I'm glad they are doing well enough to expand. Everyone there has been great and it makes it easy to root for them.

This would be their second expansion since they’ve taken over, correct? Happy for them. Stopped in for a C7 this afternoon. Always such a pleasant experience.

I believe it is still their first expansion as I think they bought the space a while ago. From what I read, the approval with the LZ board is in regards to getting a special use permit to allow brewing next door.

I noticed two things about this latest batch of Terrazzo:
    1. They dropped CTZ from the description. It’s just Amarillo, Centennial, and Simcoe now. I notice it more in the aroma than the taste, though.
    2. This matte grey label looks awful.

Tried Terrazzo tonight. I never tried the first 2 batches, but this one is a weird bird. Maltier than a WC IPA and drier than a typical MWIPA and smells (and even tastes a little) like pure weed with a little pine and citrus. I liked it.

If you order the beer from their website it still has CTZ as the first hop they list. I’m guessing they accidentally left it off of their post.

It’s also not on the label, though I don’t recall whether it was listed on the last batch.
