Here’s the description from when it was released, doesn’t read like there’s any actual vanilla

Curvature 8, while still enjoyable, was too sweet. Most I could do is 6oz. p3 knows Chicago loves sweet.

Pretty weird to label it toasted marshmallow and not have any vanilla added in. I guess I can't criticize the beer for not having strong vanilla notes since it wasn't in there.

Either way, not a bad beer but lacking a wow factor for me.

Curious on why you think that?
What do you taste when you have a marshmallow?

The "generic" marshmallow flavoring is vanilla. Wikipedia, for example, says...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshmallow#Nutrition

    "Flavors
Unless a variation of the standard marshmallow is being made, vanilla is always used as the flavoring"

Said same thing to my brother while we were drinking it. Not to besmirch Handjee, but B3 was better.

Anyone else watch the Facebook live Happy Hour? I didn't catch which based stout was used, but they spilled the beans on the four BA variants this weekend: Peanut Butter/Chocolate, Neapolitan, Cannoli, and Coffee/Maple.

Not to dismiss B4 and B2 (both good beers in their own right), but B1 and B3 were world class and arguably the best PB and Marshmallow beers, respectively, i've ever had. Shaun gets a lot of credit, but maybe not enough on those.

Chicago craft beer nerds will enjoy this: These shirts are from @senorbistec. Who is that? He has been a frequent guest on The Beer Temple Insiders Roundtable podcast as a representative of Half Acre. I believe his specialty was events focused (such as Far and Away). The pandemic impacted that position which led to him being available in this new situation. I don’t have any of this first hand from him but I think I have this generally right. I picked up one of the shirts tonight and they are very cool.

I don't doubt it. Evan mentioned 4 on the Happy Hour call, but obviously things can change. Any clue on what it is?

No idea and our server mentioned 5. I think PB and Neapolitan were the only ones he gave examples of. So maybe he was off by one as well. It was pretty crazy last night. If you’re going today, be prepared for waits for tables, to go, food trucks etc. It was a fun time but it’s not the usual experience.

How many people would you guess they can seat inside and outside?

For me, the Neapolitan is the best of the bunch. Peanut butter has a strong aroma but fairly tame on taste. Coffee/Maple BA Pressed is fine, but coffee is super bitter (par for the course for Tugboat). Cannoli is odd...my least favorite of the four.

Super busy, but plenty of beer. Enjoy everyone!

Not enough. There were multiple outdoor picnic tables they weren't seating, it was kind of weird. We had to grab our Curvature/cans and turn around to get back to the city because our wait was initially 10 tables, then somehow turned to 12 tables after 15 minutes. We arrived 10 minutes after open. Maybe were they keeping the outdoor picnic tables reserved for someone? Or were they just practicing social distancing? That's great and I'm all still all about social distancing and keeping masks up between sips even though I'm vacc'd, but these tables were plenty spread apart for outdoor enjoyment. If you're that worried about outdoor being that spaced, you should have zero indoor seating based on risk factor. Which I'm cool with, but it didn't add up. People kept walking up and sitting at the open outdoor tables then the staff had to go tell them those tables weren't available. Either way, hope those who got to enjoy Ovations enjoyed em!

I can’t speak to those particular tables, but the reason they don’t have outdoor seating similar to the early fall is because of issues with their neighbors.

Yikes. Very unfortunate, especially early in the day. I'm old and not into being out after 8-9pm so I get that. But mid day Saturday is weird for neighbor problems IMO.
