I'm going to try this with my dog.

And that would be the problem- civets only eat the ripe beans, if they are force feeding them, they aren't being selective about which beans are going in.

A lot of chicory coffee has a mix of coffee and chicory. I think it's alright, even good sometimes (the coffee+chicory that is, not straight chicory). I have to say, it's really hard to beat a cafe au lait and a pile of beignets at Cafe du Monde.

BTW, it looks like I'm the only one who likes Tugboat coffee in beer? I'm not saying it's the "best" (I think that would be Dark Matter), but I've never had a beer with Tugboat coffee and thought it tasted bad. I like really strong, bitter coffee flavor in stouts though.

I don’t get it either. There must be something going on with their sales crew or financials for tugboat to be so many breweries roaster AND how much these breweries promote the coffee.

I bought the recent BA beans from P3 and they were pretty bad. However I think that’s the case for all BA beans. I understand whiskey in coffee (still not for me), but the beans in a whiskey barrel is a great example of the parts being greater than the sum

I don't disagree in general, but the first batch of Dark Matter's Crack the Skye was absolutely amazing.

I mostly agree. Dark Matter has a big BA program, and most of them I have tried are just not that great. I think Blood Lord makes great espresso though.

Personally I don’t think the “best” coffee makes the best beer. Personally I prefer light, more acidic and fruit forward coffee for my daily cup , but this flavor profile doesn’t really hold up to a big stout or barrel aged anything. I think dark matter’s coffee is just ok, but they trend towards a darker and roastier profile, which works better in coffee beer IMO.
I haven’t had tugboat coffee straight up, but from what I have had of it in beer (eg mikerphone) the coffee has to taste pretty bad.

I’m the opposite, I prefer the big chocolatey/roasty coffees, which is probably why I like Dark Matter.

I have tried a few different Tugboat roasts, and the only half decent cup was from the Buckley beans.

Barrel aged coffee beans does seem like a gimmick, but there are exceptions. The bag of BA coffee I got from Open Outcry recently was the best I’ve ever had.

I’ve had a few barrel-aged beans from Dark Matter and they’ve been good but pricey. Barrel is more apparent in the aroma than the taste.

Looks like they will be bringing out the lake (Zurich) out to that other lake. From IG:

We’re partnering up with @chicagofireboattours this summer for epic weekly tap takeovers aboard the historic retired Chicago Fireboat, the Fred A. Busse

Each Thursday starting May 20th we’ll take to Lake Michigan and the Chicago River with a variety of newly-released brews delivered straight from the brewery earlier that day for a 2-hour sunset cruise. Once aboard you’ll be greeted by a Phase Three team member sharing the latest beer details and happenings around the brewery.

Head to the link in bio now for details and to reserve your seat today! (www.fireboattours.com/toursandcruises)

Well, I counted 5 whole minutes between Sean’s member post and a razzle for the new Eunoia. Beer shitlords have lost their touch during the pandemic

Willett Rye barrel with Vanilla. Sean was very keen to point out it is not the same beer as Fobab Eunoia though, for whatever that’s worth.
