Remaining bottles of the 5 year will have a public lineup release on Friday (tomorrow) at Elmhurst at open, along with a rum barrel version draft only. No LZ public bottles.

Just an observation, but not as many complaints about heavily adjuncted beer from P3 this year. Is this because there have been more non adjunct BA stouts? Or has there been more of an effort by P3 to dial back?

I’m not ambassador and I haven’t had many of their recent beers. I did get to try minutae reserve and abaresque reserve which I enjoyed both.

bummed about missing the 5 year stout as an ambassador, one of the main reasons I try to get these memberships is to skip any of the hassle lol

Batch 1 2024? My bottle wasn't just a shell of its former self, it was terrible

I was considering running over there at 10 to see how the line was, but honestly I didn't even feel like like doing that much :joy:

LOL - I hear that. Standing in line for an hour or two chatting beer and having a few line pours? Sure. Sleeping outdoors uncomfortably at 45 years old given how many solid solid options are out there these days? Nope. Those days are long gone for moi.

I, too, was vaguely annoyed by this. Especially since they alluded to a public raffle that never happened.

I drank this the night before the eclipse, and thought it was a wonderful, thick pastry bomb. I never had batch 1, though.

Re. 5 year anni stout, I had made plans to meet a friend for an early lunch long before I knew there was an in-person release. I figured I’d head over early to see what the deal was, and maybe grab a pour before lunch. I arrived at 10:30, moseyed over to the line, and was handed ticket 99. Beautiful day to stand outside and enjoy the weather for a little while.

The line wasn’t too fast. Despite social media announcements to the contrary, everyone could also pick up a bottle of E15 or E16 as well. My guess is it was because the turnout was lower than expected? Highlight was a middle aged man walking by and loudly muttering “so I guess people don’t WORK anymore!!!!”

Had a pour of 5th year and rum 5th year. $7 for 3oz. But 6oz was plenty - I sipped them before, through, and after lunch. Big, inky stouts. Very good.

I’m glad the “craft beer enthusiast” scene was having a good time, but people were being ridiculously loud and ornery in the restaurant for the first hour after open [insert old man shaking fist at clouds here].

walked over to bottle theory after and picked up some goldfinger singles, a Jackie O barleywine, the new goose 12oz rye, and a speedway vanilla shake. Wild that weldwerks vanilla medianoche, equilibrium, and transient stouts are distro’d now. The times they are a-changin’.

Fascinating! Bottle variance? Palate variance? Currently sits at a 4.6 on untapped with 441 check-ins..

@BeerPrince22 - what did you dislike about it?

I haven’t opened a bottle yet. Just from tap. But it was artificial tasting and way, way too sweet for me. I didn’t get any barrel either. Hoping the bottle treats me differently!

My biggest issue with draft these days is the temperature these stouts are served at. It really grinds my gears when they serve high gravity stouts ice cold. I don’t know if this was part of your experience at all, but that frequently causes weird flavors to come out on my palate that go away as I cradle it in my hot greedy paws for a while.

I run into the same problem here in Pittsburgh at Voodoo. Stopped to grab my Phantom Bday Party bottles last night and figured I’d grab a pour while I was there. Thing was ice cold. Drives me nuts.
